Does it matter at all where the offset killer is placed? If you correct DC on, say, only the master track, does that differ from doing so at the source?

Would an offset track place any special kind of interference in a mix if it is not immediately corrected?...is what I mean

you should kill it at the source. It might not matter in practical terms (it really depends on your inserts/sends, type of DC offset, source signals, and overall headroom), but since DC will lower your headroom, clipping will be more likely to occur.
