Whatsup KvR! Does anyone have any suggestions on a distortion type of VST plugin? I mainly want it for drums to add some noise and beef to the mix. Free would be great but I dont mind shelling out a few bucks if necessary. Thanks in advance.

Two good places to start for distortion are Noizware's Tri-dirt and Exponent's Delta Force. Both are multiband, and have sevral distortion types.
I have over 80 distortion effects sitting in my VST folder, all free, so the list could go on for a while. Try those two, report back what you think.

Oooh...I really like Tri-Dirt as it throws a lot of beef and punch into my drums. Delta Force was...eh. I liked the GUI but I wasnt overly impressed with the sound. Many thanks on the suggestions shamann.

OK. This includes amp simps, mostly because I tend to use them as distortion effects. There's only 75 as it turns out, but I have a few I've made in Synthedit not included. Believe it or not, this doesn't include everything I've ever come across, excludes a lot of old stuff like mda, bojo, sc, etc.

Sorry if that sounded dickheadish, wasn't specifically aimed at you, Ron, just in general. Happens a lot if you mention old freeware.rpc9943 wrote:i wont pm its cool. thank you so much

I should add Tiny God's Tiny Distortion, which I keep in another folder and is fantastic. And Cyanide2 is in the same folder as Cyanide, so add that one, which is my favourite waveshaper. And get Karma FX synth, it has a good simple distortion that could be built out into something heavy duty.
And if anyone is wondering what some usual distortion effects actually are, check out this old thread that I started. It has several links to good info sites.
