no doubt...maybe a year and half to two years ago Pheeleep told me I should get eXT, I didn't until this last spring and I agree with everyone...yes even Pheeleep (listening to a crazy Frenchman usually gets me in troublemahtazz wrote:It's sure that energyXT has changed very much since you tried it ...Battleguard wrote:Hey.. I gots a question..
Why is it that I see EnergyXT in everyone's list? What's so awesome about eXT?
I think I tried it once.. but I suppose didn't give it much patience.. prolly cause it looks pretty incapable of doing anything good..
anyway.. thx

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Currently use:
eXT (off and on)
Tracktion2 (off and on)
OPlat V6 (getting back into it)
Tried almost everything else, but the above are what ended up staying installed. Note that about 3/4 of my work is actually sequenced on my Fantom X!!

I use:
Audition: By far the best thing ever for straight audio.
FLStudio5: Other hosts may do more, but I don't care.
EnergyXT: The *reason* I don't care what other hosts do.
I used to use Magix but I don't expect to ever touch it again.

Anybody here talking about how much they love using ProTools, Nuendo, Samplitude or SawStudio?

i've tried a bunch of stuff over the years but here's what i keep coming back to:
cubase sx 3 - maybe not to everyone's taste but i grew up with sequencers of the late 80's/early 90's and that's just what i'm used to. cubase definitely has a lot of "old school" mentality about it. fortunately, that's where my brain is at, so it works out well.
acid pro 5 - cubase's one big weakness is in the area of loops. as i'm a part-time sound designer for sony digital, i use loops a LOT. acid lets me plow through combinations of sounds with incredible ease. the chopper is a great tool for making mad edits. i know Live can do most of the same things (and some might say even better) but there are minor things which may not seem like much but end up being hugely important in terms of workflow - for example: in Live you've got one narrow column of files available to scan through. in Acid it's a resizable pane that can be dragged and dropped onto another monitor if necessary. may not seem like a big deal but i find it SO much easier to take in the contents of the folder this way. in Live there's a lot of tedious scrolling and squinting and pecking your way through lists like a bird.
despite what I just said, I am finding Live a great compositional tool. its major strength IMO is that it lets me collaborate very easily with Mac users (i'm a PC user), which is something that can't really be said of Cubase (mainly because I don't know any Mac users that use it - they all use Logic) or Acid (no Mac version available).

Yup, I'm a host whore.
I've got:
Samplitude 6 mainly for audio.
Tracktion 2 when I don't want to look at a mixer.
Cubase SE when I feel masochistic.
FL Studio when I need to look at an ungodly interface.
Orion Pro which I just adore.
Overture 4 which I use most of the time anyway (I am heavily involved with its development though.)
There's things about each I like, things that could use some work. I could probably streamline it down to Samplitude, Orion, and Overture though.

Do you ever find yourself wanting to go back and tweak a sound/loop a bit (change a note?), but can't because you don't keep the MIDI? Just curious, because I tend to work in a similar fashion, but also tend to keep every step (including midi).JohnVulich wrote: *snip* I generally render all synth parts to audio and then edit the loops to crossfade smoothly in a wave editor. I rarely keep any MIDI tracks around after rendering. I'll then work on the composition using these rendered loops.
I love the FL Studio interface. Guess I'm just crazy or stg.Joseph Burrell wrote:FL Studio when I need to look at an ungodly interface.

I'm happy with Giga2 running SX3 rewired to Live 3. Seems to give me the best of all worlds without blowing my CPU.

except that now, with mpowered, that will change. Has one fatal flaw.........32 total tracks...........that blows.jsd wrote:most of the protools people i know are too busy working with paying clients to get on an internet forum and talk about how great it is.james0tucson wrote:Anybody here talking about how much they love using ProTools, Nuendo, Samplitude or SawStudio?

whore.......yes I am...........
Protools mpowered........fantastic except for the track limitation.........but there are ways around it
Live 5........It's becomeing .........the one........
Energyxt. love it, but let's get this time signature thing going eh?
Podium. Love it, but hardly use it......sigh......it's jjuuuuuuust short in a couple of ways.
Then there are two super popular hosts I NEVER use anymore because the blow, and treat customers like crap. And a last one that I like, until the upgrade, and I use it very seldomly......
Too many god-dammed flames when you mention them so fcuk it.

I would have to guess that with M-Powered that the plugins are running off the computer rather than the Pro Tools hardware. That makes a huge difference

After lots of trial and error I've settled on Live & Sonar. Prior, I was using nothing but FL and Acid but I slowly outgrew them over the years.
