I have been getting a little irritated by the now many samples I have, strewn accross my sample HD. One problem I have is that I still dont have a dedicated sampler.
I use SFZ with some reasonable soundfonts when I need complete instruments. My soundfont collection is well sorted.
I also own FL Studio and use this to usually make drum/percussion grooves. Here i use individual wave samples loaded into the step seq. Most of my wave samples come from the free downloads I got at Samplefusion.
The samplefusion samples are not really well labled (at least for my understanding) I have various folders under various catagories with similar instrument sounds.
Some sample folders contain a collection of wave samples intended to be used together as an instrument, for example the 'strings' folder may contain 5-8 wave samples with various root keys (which are labled). These samples come with no mapping file, and are to be compiled by the user. I dont have a sampler that i can use to compile them, and the default FL method of using a layer and daughter channels is too tedious.
Some single sample waves, like pads, again from the sample fusion website, dont have any key info with them and on import default to the mapping of 'C'. Which is usually not correct. I need to get the guitar out and map them correctly.
Then there are some ethenic samples that I have made/sourced locally. Tablas and stuff. These tend to get confusing too.
I was looking for tips on how you people manage your sample banks/ smples ? Especially the ones you get with FL. I have been pondering over getting halion player with a special edition of Chicken translator, But FL will be releasing a sampler soon, and I dont know.
thanks for alkl help
