so I got an ueberschall library..it sounds great. This should be an easy question, but I am not sure.

Basicaly there are some loops on here like tambourines and string melodies that Id like to use.

They are recorded in a specific time..my tune is at 130 bpm. obviously they do no loop correctly at this tempo.

I have Kontakt 2 as my sampler and also GURU. Am wondering how I can get this loop to easily fit to my tempo and sit right in the mix. Shouldnt be that tough, but Tracktion is my sequencer and the timestretch function is crap.

What are the best and easiest ways to go about this?

not sure if either of those samplers have a slice function but that generally wirks for me with percussive stuff,so long as the loops are a similar lentgh that is ;)

dont use tracktion or those samplers tho so afraid im not much use

thats ok..someone should know..it can't be that hard..I am reading my kontakt manual again to learn more..it is just quite large and was just looking for someone w/ the knowledge on how to do this pretty fast.

Im quite sure kontact has a slicer.. should work very well with percussion loops... dont use kontact myself though...

In Kontakt you will be able to either slice the loop or timestretch it to fit.

both of these options are available.

Can't help on details, though - don't have it

Experiment! Usually for percussive stuff chopping works best as mentioned above. For strings I would try both and see what sounds better. The time stretch will probably sound better, unless you are going for a raw type edge with the song.
A good thing about chopping is you can rearrange stuff anyway you want to. The bad thing is it can sound choppy (go figure).
Time stretch can sound good, but make sure to listen for a change in pitch. If you change the tempo too much most (if not all) will throw the pitch off.
I don't use Kontakt either :D , but I do use both of those features often with other software.
Always remember that others may hate you but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself.

get abelton live and just set the track to whatever tempo you want. you can do it with the demo, just record the output. easy quick and works well.

that's the ticket , i haven't used a sampler since i got Live4!

Slicing in K2 should work rather fine, but the whole mechanism is a bit tricky. Would be easier if you went for a dedicated slicer (such as MicroDicer from ConcreteFX, which has got to be the best budget solution IMO).
Of course any sort of slicing would only work in case you were dealing with rather dry loops. Overlapping cymbals (or whatever) and long reverb tails won't work too well.
The slicer in GURU most likely won't take you as far, it's meant to be more like some sort of inspirational tool, rather than exactly slicing and recreating loops (which IMO is great).

Regarding all sorts of melodic stuff you won't be able to do all that much about it, unless you're willing to spend massive amounts of time in slicing, cutting and looping individual notes, then rebuilding them in whatever sampler. Alternatively a dedicated pitch/tempo correction tool might be your best bet - maybe Live would be the ticket, but it's a bit of an overkill to buy it just for that.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

yes..great answers..i should have mentioned i am dealing w/ dry loops..they end cleanly...they better for the price!

it is an ueberschall library..it just has a great 1 bar tambourine loop that moves perfect. it was tracked at 125 and my song is in 130.

The thing w/ tambourines is when you put individual hits and program them..you dont get that nice "swisha swisha" moevemnt that you want. This gives me that..so id love to be able to figure out how to do it.

GURU is a great slicer..it may work for this task..but im going to check out microdicer.it sounds like it could work real well.

The more I use GURU, the more I find myself using it for 80% of the electronic songs I do..it just sequences so well, and the sampler is sick....but sometimes you dont want that sampled sound, and I am in that situation currently.
