a plugin that can random the parameters of any other vst loaded?

Post

dunno about a plugin, but there's a host that can - chainer

Post

and...chainer can load into another host as an effect OR as a VSTi - so actually, YES! chainer is a plugin that can randomize the parameters of another plugin.

there ya go

xlutop chainer - see the HOSTS menu here at KVR, or try Google

have fun

fl studio can do it natively, too. with quite a few effects/synths it also randomizes crucial parameters, so sometimes its useless.

A plugin has no native access to the parameters of another plugin for some reasons. Except it is able to host other plugins directly.

That must by handeled by the host application generally, but may not always make much sense with most plugins, because a parameter randomizer should have some inbuilt "intelligence" (i.e. merely randomizing sendseful parameters and useful amounts).

A general purpose parameter randomizer has no clue from the internal architecture of a plugin, nor any "knowledgement" of the used *valid range* of those parameters, thus being probably not able to deliver any senseful results with that entire action.

FL has a param randomizer, but it's indeed useless, because randomizing some critical parameters, like an oscillator fine tuning, can ruin a preset.

So it also hybridizes presets, that is, when you switch from a preset to another, it keeps some of the previous parameters, at random. This gives much better results, as all of the parameters have been set by humans.
So you switch the hybridize mode on, open a couple of presets and you start creating new ones.

Who wants perfectly tuned oscillators? This type of feature is perfect for FSU type stuff.

Would it be possible to, say, set up an LFO to modulate a parameter of a plugin in chainer? I've used pluggo once before, and was shown that you can actually load up modulation VSTs to manipulate the other pluggo plugins loaded - a feature I've since missed much in standard VSTs.
