According to the news item Samplerobot is a program for automatic sampleset creation. It even sends midi information out if the gear involved is midi compatible.

You could make a patch on a Virus, Nord Lead, Prophet VS, Evolver or whatever, set Samplerobot to record at 4 velocity layers per hit, and every other key sampled. Go out to dinner with the family and when you're done you have something spiffy to distribute to your buddies on KVR.

If I buy an analog modular synth then I could use this to be able to share the analog love with you guys. Very cool.
Excuse all the blood.

I'm quite interested in this software. I imagine it's somewhat similar to Chainer but on hardware synths.

BUT my experience on Chainer (render each note of a soft synth to wav) is that not very complex sounds render perfectly but when a sound is highly modulated the results are not so natural and satisfying.

will it happen the same with Samplerobot?

HI

Very cool price ... as well!

Flipper.

VDumper is now working perfectly multisampling hardware for me and doesn't cost $300. I think they've missed the boat...

VDumper samples hardware? I didn't know that...I've always used Chainer to sample my soft synths...but I didn't know VDumper samples hardware...

I downloaded the demo today but the link to the getting started manual doesn't work and I don't know how to use it for sampling the sounds from my hardware synth...

Yup, it sends MIDI to the hardware, listens to a soundcard input it's hooked up to and spits out the result as either wavs or an SF2. It also does VSTs.

It was bluescreening my machine consistently in earlier versions, but the latest one is working fine. Very convenient for layering too.

I downloaded the demo, and I have to say, I haven't seen a more unfriendly, unintuitive interface in a long time.

Between that, the lack of asio support, and the price, I gave up on it pretty quick :(

Thanks heavens for Devine Machine's forthcoming OneShotRecorder. Whist it doesn't do everything SampleRobot claims to do, it does do alot of the hard work involved in multisampling hardware, and its a fraction of the price :)

I didn't get the impression that OSR is an automatic multisampling utility though; you'd have to sequence in the notes and map into your sampler at the other end yourself, no?

Hmm, I tried to check out VDumper, but the website given here http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1475.html just reroutes to some search engine. Anyone got a working link ?

You do have to sequence the notes yourself, yes. Then send the sequence to both OSR and your hardware synth. Then OSR will will take care of the sampling & splitting, and will save wav files with root note embedded, which most samplers support, so mapping is easy enough.

Fair enough - takes care of one end at least. For some reason the OSR demo is causing windows explorer in XP to freeze on me, which sucks, because it seems darn useful...

Cheers for the link.

Not sure what's happening with the demo. Works fine here. Link is on holiday for a couple of weeks, but drop him an email, and I'm sure he'll sort it out.

I'd like to try VDumper. I've used Chainer so far for converting soft synth sounds into samples. But I remember I installed earlier versions of VDumper and I also had lots of problems.
I'll have to try the new versions. is it free?

I can't believe that no one has mentioned "AutoSampler" from Redmatica. This program is absolutely "the bomb." And at 100 euros, AutoSampler is significantly less expensive than "SampleRobot."

Yes, AutoSampler is really designed to work with Logic's EXS24. However, you can use CDXtract or some other conversion utility to convert the AutoSampler-generated EXS24 instruments to any other soft-sampler format.

Oh, I forgot. No one on KVR uses a Mac. Perhaps it's time to switch? (You can take the $200 you save on AutoSampler off the price of your "more expensive" Mac.)
