I have several projects in FL 4. Can they be opened in FL5 with no problem?
(there is a reason why I can't try it right now, that's why I ask. thanks)

I second the yes...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

most definately...its always been backwards compatible...except sometimes I found that certain samples in from FL4 are stretched when projects are open in FL5

thanks, I already tried it and yes, no problem. Then, however surprising it may seem, I'm using FL5 finally.

Just buy FLS from the Image-Line website so you'll always have lifetime free updates.origami wrote:thanks, I already tried it and yes, no problem. Then, however surprising it may seem, I'm using FL5 finally.

I understand you've misunderstood me, but it's my fault not mine.
I bought FL 2 years ago, when version 4 was just released. Then I of course updated to version 5 cos I know updates are free. BUT then I found an irritating problem. Some notes sounded annoyingly distorted when playing my midi keyboard. Then I went back to FL4. Finally I discovered the problem was with my midi keyboard not with FL5, but strangely enough the distortion was incredibly annoying in FL5 and almost inaudible in FL4. So since I was in the process of my latest cd I decided to keep using FL4. NOW I think that's just stupid of me and due to the problems I explained in this post, I've already installed FL5 again, now to stay.
wow, how boring...but that's the truth.

what a strange question...
I can't imagine that there will ever any update to any sequencer be released which is not able to load projects that were saved with the previous version...

Well... I loaded up an older FL4 song (3D-Galax, by XOR) in FL5 and the tempo was completely wrong (in fact, I don't think it loaded tempo data at all). Also, after playing for a couple of minutes my PC cold-rebooted... but that's nothing new...
