Extremely efficient for real time mixing and CPU friendly. Very expensive though.

What about the sound quality ??? It's the most important point I concern about.

Got an acoustically-treated room, high quality monitors, mics, preamps, converters -- and a really discerning pair of ears?

If not, it doesn't matter how SAW sounds (assuming it doesn't suck out right - and it probably doesn't).

For what it's worth - if I recall correctly - SAWstudio rated about average in the DAWSUM "blind listening" test.

You need to try it for yourself and see if it suits your needs. Get the demo:

I think the sound quality (demo) is excellent, but I find the work flow to be somewhat unconventional when compared to other hosts. I've been watching SAW for a few years now, and if they ever develop the MIDI Workshop plug-in to where it's EASY to use, I MIGHT switch over from Cubase.

Now comes the comment that starts endless threads...

There's something about audio tracks in SAW that sound good to me...better than Cubase (which I use now). I don't know what it is. It could be the signal routing, it could be the summing, it could be the code, it could be my sanity. I don't know. But whatever it is, I like it. It sounds well rounded and full, at least to me. I'd love to mix with this thing, but I need my VST. And it IS expensive.

Check the demo and fly some tracks into it. The demo is limited, but you'll be able to tell right off if it's the mixing environment you want to work in.
