Well I'll just say that I have Voxengo stuff and waves stuff and I use Max Bass or Rbass in waves and Desser or R desser in waves and Vox has nothing to compare that with , also worth mentioning Ozone is on version 3 now and there loudness maxi is way better than alot of others atm. Alot of ppl here are chimming on about waves but I bet also alot of them dont own waves as I do, albiet very expensive but its not the kind of thing you purchase without doing your homework on its over $1700 and I suspect that If ppl bought this and are now complaining that other products are way better, either didnt do there research or are speaking of things they dont know.
I use Voxformer sometimes I admit its got a certian quality but to put it in the same league as wave platinum you must be smoking crack.
Hey a new computer is a great thing btw but so is having a product to save your ass cause of a bad recording and thats what I use waves for there restoration bundle is priceless and its included with platnium.

If I spent that much money on a few plugins I'd probably lure myself into believing that they're outstanding...

I never tried the Sonalksis (way too expensive for a few lines of code imho) - I have to admit that Crunchessor is very nice but when I tried it it didn't quite convince me enough to buy it.chagzuki wrote:I own GCO-1 and never use it. I prefer Sonalksis and Crunchessor.

GCO-1 has plenty of features but ultimately I found the sound slightly too grainy to use over entire mixes. Just not as sweet as the Sonalksis.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

I don't hear any 'grainyness' tbh

I am not a betatester... don't know why though... but if you look on the forum you see that it seems to be released however ....jens wrote:I hate beta-testers who love to tease!multree wrote:wait till there's a demo out for Quantum-fx 2

Well, in trying to describe something that's incredibly subtle it's likely that it'll sound like an exaguration. It's not grainy per se, but when A/Bing with other comps that's the word I'd use to describe the difference. Or perhaps metallic, though that sounds more of an exaguration. The sonalksis is rubbery and organic.

The waves stuff isn't all that expensive really is it - considering what you get.
I dunno, but after seeing the rennaissance max bundle in use I priced it up - £450 for 7 very good plugs, whats that around £65 quid each & I thought the compressor & reverb were both very good
Still pace interlok - bah.

I guess much of what you try to describe comes down to being merely a matter of taste and it is very cool that we have so many great options to choose from...chagzuki wrote:Well, in trying to describe something that's incredibly subtle it's likely that it'll sound like an exaguration. I tried out some of the mentioned above. I really like the Wave arts trackplug, but still, I think Curve EQ works better for me... I've been using them on my guitar tracks... I really like Curve EQ on a final mix hands down... Also, the T-Racks Compressor sounds really good to me. As far as the loudness maximezers, It would be either Elephant or the one in Ozone...
There are alot of plugins, and each seems to have it's own distinct style on how it alters the sound. At this point, for the price it seems like the Voxengo stuff is really good, after trying out various other plugins from other people, I prefer the Voxengo stuff...
I still wouldn't mind demoing some waves stuff just to see if they are any good. Also, wouldn't mind trying out that UAD-1 setup... But, that really isn't an option.

Waves Restoration is not priceless... it costs £1756.63 (TDM) or £881.25 (native).Stairsteps wrote: Hey a new computer is a great thing btw but so is having a product to save your ass cause of a bad recording and thats what I use waves for there restoration bundle is priceless and its included with platnium.
As the Restoration plugs are included in the Diamond bundle, I have had a chance to use them, and to compare them with the audio restoration tools in Adobe Audition (price: £230) which I already own...
I treated an audio clip with bad crackle and some hiss using both Audition and Waves, and Audition gave significantly better results without even breaking into a sweat.
In the latest issue of Sound on Sound, Mike Thornton does an indepth "Restoration Shootout" article in the Pro Tools notes section... he compares Waves with Sony Oxford Restoration Tools (price: £625) and BIAS SOund Soap Pro (£529). The Sony Oxford plugs win hands down.

If i would have the money for the waves platinum bundle....
i'd buy 2 UADs bundled with everything and a powercore with some of their best plugs and never think about a computer upgrade!!!
