I am new to digi recording and have Cubase sx. I am finding it very difficult....
can anybody let me know how to enable my midi sounds to sound when I go through the audio mixdown procedure??? I set it all up and it saves, but in the wave file there is just silence....
please help !!!

when you speak of midi sounds, what are you using for the sounds?
external synths or vst?
there's a pretty good walk thru on all this in the cubase quick start manual

im using a yam sw card with a midi keyboard controller at the moment. i dont actually have any manuals at all, in fact i am amazed that i can even switch the thing on!!!

I guess what the question is, is if i have several tracks recorded (midi sounds) how do i get those tracks linked onto an audio track??

well, you first need to have an instrument assigned to those midi tracks. midi notes alone will never produce any sound because they're just bits of informnation. (anyone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong)
if you don't have any instruments, you have a crapload to choose from. there are many good vsti that are free too. after you have downloaded an instrument, extract/copy the .dll into sx's 'vstplugins' folder, reboot sx, hit f11 and choose the instrument you want.

then, in the inspector view you need to choose the instrument u want to assign to that track. see included pic

I'd talk to your dealer. Cubase SX is an expensive program and really should come with some sort of a manual, either printed or PDF.

Thanks.. I have got that far wreckstep, what I need to do is burn a CD with what I have recorded. I understand I have to edit midi files onto an audio file in order to be able toexport it via 'audio mixdown', but I have no idea how to do this.. this is not my gear you see, I am more used to working with 2 inch tape !!!
