Hey mates,

I'm searching for a good VST noise gate that won't mess up with my audio.
Possibly free or with a minimum charge. Something good and simple that will simply cut noise when not needed on my voices takes.

G-Gate is the only one I've used so far that is simple enough to get working almost immediatley. It has 3 knobs: threshold, fade, and attack. It works great on guitars. I've tried Floorfish and I couldn't get it to work and sound natural...aparently it is meant for live drum tracks.

The best one I have is the built in noise gate on Voxengo Voxformer. That is, just as far as being able to tune the threshold to exactly where I want it. I had a look for one a week or 2 ago and pretty much went through all the low cost and free ones I could find. I tried the Sinus one and couldn't get the threshold exactly where I wanted it. I tried GGate and same thing. They are both fine basic noise gates but couldn't get the exact gating I wanted. I have seen the Ultrafunk Noise Gate in action and it is the best VST I have seen. If someone wants to sell it let me know. At present I am using the voxformer one wherever I need gating, even electric guitars which is probably not a good idea but I have no choice. The slim slow slider noise gate looks pretty good as well so they are my two choices at the moment.

Good casual noise gate - free VST?
