I asked this a couple years go at fl...I need a sound that only really spring verbs can get...mic it up and give me a shake or two....of course I understand if no one wants to but I would that sound of springs slapping together.....sevaral examples with long tails would be ideal...

Give me a few days...I just moved and am still getting things hooked back up. Once I have a computer in my home studio again and all my equipment wired up I will get you some samples

If you want a cheap alternative to having other people do this for you, Danelectro put out a pedal last year or so that's a spring reverb with a kick plate for that "briong" sound.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Sap has the right idea, but what you're talking about has a lot more treble and mids and possibly a little distortion.Hink wrote:thanx sap....but that's not quite what I meant...I want the wicked crashing slap that saces the crap of you...

A little bit more like this? I know it's not quite there, but probably more what you're looking for:

Blimey, I had *the* sound for you about 4 years ago.Hink wrote:thanx sap....but that's not quite what I meant...I want the wicked crashing slap that saces the crap of you...
I was tracking this guitarist who was overdubbing his solos. This one song he was having alot of trouble getting the way he wanted, although everything he did sounded great to me. He kept wanting another go...then another...and another. It went on and on. It was late. I was right knackered, and he was getting more and more frustrated. Then part way through what seemed like the hundredth take, he suddenly spun round and began in earnest to smash his Strat down on his amp like he was driving spikes. The sound was tremendous, just really spectacular, and the springs were going right off with every blow...of which there were plenty, I might add. An absolutely stunning performance.
Too bad I can't dig that roll out for you, Hink. There were bleeding good levels on the tape on that bit.
That bloke though...man, you never forget those kind of gigs.

Ok I have a spring reverb in my ARP and in my Fender Super Showman amp head. Which one do you want me to kick?
I will shake up the Fender and have it posted for you by tomorrow night.

Fine then, dont like my Spring reverb sounds that I pounded out with my own fist.
Actually, I too know the sound yer after, but there is no getting it with my amp. It is just a lil 8" 99 dollar fender, and the spring tank prolly only has 1 5" spring.

way way back in the day
our lead guitar player built up a 60 watt amp through a kit (HeathKit?)
well every time he kicked his fuzz box in the circuit breaker on the amp would blow, so he was in the habit of using his foot to reset the breaker switch. of course, he also had certain anger management issues, so he used some force to do all this: often topping the amp over on its face. (the breaker switch was mounted on the top of the back so any good kick would send the unit over.
so we all became pretty familiar with the sound of those two large springs bashing into each other. I would suggest the full tipping for the full effect -- though it was a little hard on straight plug connectors, the 90 degree ones worked nicely
course eveybody in the audience always thought it was part of the act and it happened so predictably it became part of certain songs

I finaly took my laptop into the music room and plugged the amp direcly into it...no micing...just because it was easier and I dont have my mic unpacked yet. Using the direct out helped keep the signal a little cleaner but its still not great beacuse of the laptops built in sound hardware. Anyhow I have put it into mp3 format (3.3meg) but dont have anywhere to host it right now...do you want me just to email it to you to see if you like it? If so I can cut out some of the hits for you from the wav file and send those in better quality than the mp3...but the wav itself is huge so I dont think I want to just send that right off...
