I have the Waves demo and tried their Doubler 4 and really liked it -- just don't want to buy a bundle just for a doubler - I searched the forum here and found some ideas but...What would be a good alternative for a doubler that matches the Waves?

Thanks in advance - you folks have been very helpful in the past.

Depends on the application, imo. If dealing with self recorded material, nothing beats actual... doubling :)

Thanks for the response - I agree and have done that on occasion but my time is so limited and when I clicked on the Doubler it just seemed so easy.

The track was a simple vocal and acoustic but it made it fat. I read where someone here used a chorus and then a limiter but wasn't sure about that - seemed like a bit of work -

I could just be lazy and plus not knowing what I am doing :D

Thanks

Bummer :? - that's what I was afraid of - I could spend $150 for the Musician's Bundle - bummer again :x (don't think I'd do that sine I have the Sonitus stuff now)...or I could just be more creative with copying the track and playing with it.

What is this (PACE) copy protection?

Thanks

The Lexicon PSP delay plugins PSP42 or PSP84 each have a good flexible doubler.

I'm not really sure what the Doubler does exactly, but from the product page, I think it might be similar to Clone Ensemble.

The best way to double is to literally double....record the track twice...the nuances and subtle differences between the two will give you the best doubling effect possible. As far as synthetic doubling goes though....I haven't found a software incarnation better than the waves doubler.

I have used Clone Ensemble for a few years now and I really like it.

Thanks - from what demo mp3's I've heard it tends to give a slurring sound - is this accurate? I can't tell from the Clone Demo for it only gives one setting.

Thanks - oepn for any thoughts

I personally wouldent waste the money, even if you dont want to or dont have the time to record the track twice, just copy/paste to duplicate the same track in your host and detune very slightly that will fatten it up. also try compressing one of them heavily too and leaving that low in the mix.

Thanks - makes sense - you are right - doesn't take time to copy the track and play with it - I'll try your suggestions - good stuff.

Thanks Scrubs! I have Clone and it doesn't slur the words, I can even change formants and the diction stays clear.

But I like your advice for great a doubling technique.
Thanks again for chiming in.

actually, you can get the waves musician's bundle 2 for $149 that includes doubler, ren eq, ren comp and supertap. fwiw, i don't use it much for doubling, but waves doubler is a great vocal/instrument harmonizer on the aux buss...
