i love you with all my heart, rurik.
you have more work to do here. your life will be empty if you don't continue it.
stop running and get to work.
you want a computer? we'll give you five.
there was a theft? move. or lock the doors and paint over the windows.
just keep going. what's so bad about that? what are you afraid of? why give up?
My vst's are my friends. i feel for them, and noone can understand me the way a good instrument can. Pling could easily replace most of my closest aquaintances, and I'd trade them all for another xoxos vst.
it's wrong of you to leave.
wrong for you.
wrong for us.
PM for a computer, I'll ship it tomorrow.
Give us your paypal address so we can send you money.

no, but if he's washing his hands of it all, why not?vurt wrote:hehe, you expect rurik to make it easy?
I know plenty of people would have been prepared to do it, and it might have been better for what's left to remain in xoxos' own idiom.
rurik's a hard guy to help or to know how to help (and lately, impossible). I've tried.
I respect his choice, and I suppose "it's the right choice for him" (as the mother of a friend of mine said at his funeral) but I'd rather he was around, and I'm pissed off with him that he isn't it.
Ya shit, rurik.

Well, have a whip around, get the PC and if he doesn't want it, give it to me.
Why is this in the instruments forum?

i have the instruments, and as stated i can set something up, i think xoxos would be glad to have me do it
however first of all, i don't want to jump in too fast and make all his works available - you never know the difference a week or two can make in someone's life, I know we are all hoping there'll be a change in the weather and he'll be back
so i'm not jumping in too fast here. If he's gone for good, it's not gonna hurt anyone who doesn't already have his instruments to wait a month
and it'll give him time to be sure about his decision, or possibly to see this post and send me further direction if he sees fit.
also there's the issue that i have a server with unlimited bandwidth, but a somewhat unreliable connection. Up about 90% of the time, and when it goes down, it'll be anywhere from an hour to 2-days.
heh, something tells me this is the best kinda server to put xoxos stuff on... you never know if you'll be able to find it, or how long you'll have to wait
but i'm not sure if i want to do that to you all. Uncle E has offered hosting.... he would surely be more reliable than me, if he's serious, he can do it all, or he can host and i'll be happy to upload and manage the mini-xoxos site.
i wrote some docs for him on how to make routing work for his midi plugins, in Cubase SX. I could offer basic support on his plugs through the website as well.
Anyway, like I said, it's not something I'm ready to do immediately. No-one is 'staking claim' here, so if this sounds lame to anyone and you want to pick up the reins, i'm not gonna stop you. but to answer some of the 'where's the new website' questions, that's my position at the moment. If no-one else steps up, i'll sort this out in about 3 weeks. If anyone wants to work with me on it, gimme a PM - Eric, your server space would be useful for sure.
thanks

i dont think hes after em being hosted elsewhere i think he just wants links to his stuff posted,ie the links we get in mails? rather than the free stuff?
he also wants ben to change the "get" links to reflect this i think?
of course that depends on how long jon is willing to keep his page at panic now

I have the commercial files and can host them as a back up in the event that his site disappears. I also have the original commercial links, so can post those, too.
The old site is still there now, and I doubt it will be taken down any time soon as PanicNow is a cooperative rather than commercial host. The only main concern would be domain expiry.
I think the best strategy would be to host files in many places, to help spread the server load around.
I doubt waiting will do much good. Two weeks hence someone could just as easily think more time is needed just in case. I'd also guess that Rurik doesn't sell many after the initial 30 buyers. He's also already posted some of the SE files for several of his commercial MIDI VSTis at the Yahoo Group.

my opinion was that a month was fine, for me personally, based on his comments and the relationship i've had with him, i'm hardly gonna want to draw this out 'oh two more weeks now'shamann wrote:I doubt waiting will do much good. you've got the links, you can post them whenever you please
