Well, the environment in Logic can handle sysex as well, but this has to be done with transformers and the like. I am pretty sure that this is quite complicated and results in large environments (and it's probably above my grasp of Logic and MIDI stuff...).

Then there's MIDI Pipe.

Actually, they have a basic script for the EZ-AG in there, but this is just the same filtering that my own litte transformer does. However, I guess that MIDI Pipe might be able to handle scripts as well; but again, I am not really a programmer of any kind, so I am not sure. Maybe I could contact MIDI Pipe's programmer and ask whether it would be possible to port your script to the Mac? (If this would be o.k. for you...?)

I don't think that this would be of any help. You need a real programming language.
It's not just a matter of converting MIDI values.

my ezag just arrived (wayhayyyyyyy)
really smart little gizmo
gonna have to dive in and try out one of the modscripts for it though, needs to play a bit more like a guitar.
how will it work with my fcb1010 though? does it need midi in and out sent to the ezag for the scripts to work?

anyone used it with the midi fx in live 5?

all in all i think this thing can free me from my keyboard (i just cant play keys :p)

I guess I am out of luck, then. There might be such tools for Mac, but I am not a hardcore user, so I really don't know where to look for such a thing. Anyway, thanks for the input!

:help: I had been hoping that someone else would do the honours of asking lots of stupid questions, but obviously everybody here knows what they are doing, so I will just have to own up: - I just can’t get the applications to work, I haven't clue why.
I am a complete Midiot!!
I bought the EZ-AG in order to input midi data into my sequencer. It all worked fine except for the echo caused by the constant hammer-on effect when I depress fret buttons while fingerpicking. I thought that I could use the apps from mbncp and markleford to get round this. Unfortunately my logic didn’t take into account my complete cluelessness in matters midi.
I have installed midiox and midiyoke, registered the apps, and after a load of midi feedbacks and blue screens I managed to get notes out of my sequencer again, but the apps don’t seem to have the desired effect; ie., I still get the echo from fretting the notes.
I can see the notes in the fretboard diagram in both apps, and even see the mode change (sound +/-) in markleford’s, but otherwise they don’t seem to work for me.
I am using a Behringer BCA2000 USB2.0 audio/midi interface to a laptop. My sequencer is ntrack with vst instruments incorporated. I also have cubase32, but I can’t get them to work there either.

The signal chain as I imagine it -

BCA2000 – (midiyoke) - application – (midiyoke) - sequencer/vst instrument - BCA2000

Does that make sense? Am I missing a midiyoke connection somewhere? Do I have to start midiox?
Can anyone give me some moronproof instructions on how to set up midiyoke, and what inputs/outputs to define in the apps etc.
Markleford and mbncp – You guys have already done so much supplying the applications that I feel  about bothering you, but I would love to get at least one of them working. :)

So, you're seeing frets light up on the GUI when you play, but the sequencer never gets the notes?

Make sure that the output port you're using in the EZ app is mirrored by the corresponding input port in your sequencer. You do *not* want to be using the BCA's MIDI ports in your sequencer at the same time you're using the app.

In my app (EZ_AG 3.hta) set the midi ports as follow:

EZ-AG/EG (MIDI IN) -> BCA2000
EZ-AG/EG(MIDI OUT) -> BCA200 (only used to show scales/chords on the EZ)
Left Split (MIDI OUT) -> MIDI Yoke 1

In the sequencer:
MIDI IN -> MIDI YOKE 1

Make sure that in the sequencer you get only the yoke port !!! or you'll get the processed and unprocessed MIDI data.

The main setting are:
Fret Down Action
Fret Up Action

If you don't want Hammers, fret 'noises', set both to NOTE OFF.

Also, for both apps, there is no need to install or run MIDI-OX, only the virtual drivers (midi yoke, maple, loopbe,...)

Thanks guys for the quick reply and your help. They work now. Many many thanks  . I must have been sitting on my brains :D My setup at the moment is not very stable (n-track and BCA 2000, but I like the simple usage of n-track and I can't afford to replace the BCA 2000 at the moment) and when I get a hangup or a wipeout I don't know if it was me or my setup. Anyway I now have an orchestra at my fingertips and much less midi editing. Once again thanks.

I'm enjoying my EZ-AG purchase which was of course bought thanks to the wealth of information and useful scripts found here. Thanks guys!

My friends love the thing and can't keep their hands off it. I think the saving for a Ztar will begin soon though, really need the velocity sensitive frets!

Here is a little take done on the EZ-AG for you guys:

If I can get my webcam + audio working at same time then I'd liket o do some vids to help others trying to decide on purchasing the system. :)

Hey everyone I came to this discussion a little late... after I already order a casio dg-20 on ebay. Could anyone give me more info about comparing these two (casio dg-20 and the yamaha ez line)?

How much easier is it to put in notes with the yamaha? Are either of these two velocity sensitive (picks ups how hard you press on the rubber pad)?

Any casio dg-20 owners out there with a perspective on the dg-20...

Thanks
HG

Just one silly question...when you hit the frets (in normalmode without scripts) you get a fixed velocity but if you are playing with the pluck you have different velocity values depending how strong you pluck..don´t you?

Thanks

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with the Roland GR33 or any of the other Roland pitch to midi systems and if they can compare them to the ez-ag / ez-eg. I'm thinking about getting a GR33 but now I'm having second thoughts since I've come across the Yamaha.
thanks,
Minh

Do not get the roland 33! I had one they are very expensive and do not track fast runs well at all. Its really apples and organges. I don't own a yamaha ez but from what I have read you press a rubber pad and it sends a midi note--this is very different from the roland 33 which relies on a pickup to detect notes and then sends the data. Pressing a rubber pad is instant whereas the roland way is not. Its very easy to get stray notes with the roland 33--I used my roland with a "roland ready" fender strat and I ended up trading it all away ($1100.00) Luckily I got a whole electronic drum set for it ... whew...
