They already had some of the dev work done for the new stuff in FL6, and some of the re-branded stuff was in the works too. But FL5 was a major update, and they released it when they were ready.

I suppose I'd feel differently about FL if it weren't for the free updates deal. As it stands, it's one of the best values in audio software -- up there with EnergyXT.

I use it like Normal.
I like the fact that I can control the notes in the arpeggiator and as a modular enviroment to use several instruments at the same time playing in unison with only one MIDI track :D

I also use eXT's own sequencer in places where FLStudio's own Pattern Playlist doesn't fit my style of working (many variations for one instrument that would have to placed either into one large pattern or individual patterns spread vertically down the pattern playlist). I know that's FL's way of working, but in some instances it's a bit inconvenient and confusing. Also, rather than use a multi-timbral library (GPO, EWQLSO) in FL spread over 16 different MIDI Out instances, I can wrap it all up in eXT (which has fantastic multi-timbral sequencer support) and send each audio output to a different channel on FL's mixer.

Have to admit, I'm really looking forward to FL6. Some of the new things like the multiband compressor fill up a few gaps that are missing in certain areas.

Heh, there's something about FLStudio that I miss in every other sequencer. It's the "Slide to note" functionality that lets you slide up to 4 different notes each in individual directions and rates of pitch change. It is almost impossible to do with Pitch Bend traditionally or with Portamento accurately. Only works for native FL synths, not VSTs (not supported, hence absence in other hosts too). But dang if it isn't great to use.

Just load FL into a *proper* sequencer which does have freeze. :hihi:

If I was still using FL, I'd want proper automation on VST's and faders... having to ride them is just annoying.

The automation clips give envelope-style automation for practically all aspects of VSTs, native synths and even generic sequencer and mixer functions.

http://flredirect.e-officedirect.com/fl ... automation (link only works in IE because ImageLine seemingly don't like MY Firefox... :( )

Actually, ORION Platinum also has audio recording.

Maybe because the workflow is a joke. Or maybe because its full of useless toys that get in the way of doing things. Just look at that ridiculous 3D visual thing as a prime example. There are plenty of reasons that make it hard to take too seriously.
trioptic wrote:ya, but FL is skinnable, which is unique in its own right.
Not even close. EnergyXT is at least as skinnable as Fruity and ORION is infintely more skinnable than weither of them.
Do any of you idiots even look at other software?
NOVAkILL : Legion GO, AMD Z1x, 16GB RAM, Win11 | Audient EVO 8 | Lumi Keys | Studio Pro 8
Korg Odyssey, bx-oberhausen, Proxima, PolyMax, GR8, JP6K, Union, Atomika,

Im just taking a piss is all. I like FL studio, but would rather see PDC than freeze. But personally I dont care if either is implemented, as I jsut use it as a drum machine now.

One man's joke is another man's pleasure...

Exactly how would that "ridiculous 3D visual thing" get in your way, or any of the other included plugins or "useless toys" as you'd call them?

Still smells like some sort of personal agenda that never got solved to your satisfaction :P

I use Orion (Pro only though) and there's still even more annoyances for my workflow (that fukced up windows behavior for one - and we don't need to get down to that discussion again, it's been done to death over the years and it still is fukced up as it works different to every fukcing app on the planet). Most things I've seen you mention as shortcomings or problems in FL are easy to get around - for example, name your plugins so you'll know which is attached to what... and you don't have to have all of them open and minimized hiding behind the mixer :P I still don't understand this whiney attitude, even if it is coming from that old episode most people have thankfully forgotten about :)

Maybe it FL was truly skinnable, we might see you saying something akin to rational one day ;)
Now available with added Inherently Suspect Justification!
