Sorry for Offtopic Pig, but how exactly do u use it there? do u make all your drums and sequence them in playlist and then just mixdown everything in Sonar?

I know that's FL's way of working, but in some instances it's a bit inconvenient and confusing.
This to me is the only thing that really bugs me about FL Studio. It needs a much better sequencing window where you can actually see the waveshapes of the patterns and resize, move, cut and paste like with Cubase.

Wow. The exact reason I stopped using FL studio!!
I really want to use EnergyXT as a host and somehow use FL's step sequencer for beats and whatnot. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Maybe I'll reread the thread cause someone might have mentioned it.

hmm... sounds like alot of people dont like the whole pattern window. That for me was reason enough to try Cubase

Actually that is one of the things I like about FL.
I always know what exactly is in each pattern I only need to re-arrange them for different visoins of my tunes and to experiment.
I like the modularity of EXT and I wanted to learn how touse other hosts just for fun (and to record my guitar outside of FL)
Later.

Most things I've seen you mention as shortcomings or problems in FL are easy to get around - for example, name your plugins so you'll know which is attached to what... and you don't have to have all of them open and minimized hiding behind the mixer :P I still don't understand this whiney attitude, even if it is coming from that old episode most people have thankfully forgotten about :)
to this day i still wonder what it is that he keeps bringing up, attempting to sound like he has a shred of logic within him while he disses FL...
It must have been really bad to bring up this type of emotional frustration.

i think he should see a doctor.

use a midi out and open eXT and assign both to the same port, use the midi out channel for writing (you can use as many as you want I believe with eXT)...but you're better off using the piano roll over the step sequencer (for everything, the SS is a waste of space imo)...

Well, I used to use FL as a sketch pad and have a bunch of false starts in FL that I now embellish upon in sonar. sometimes I use it for a programmed drum track. but more often than not, I program a rhythm in fl studio and feed that to jamstix and let jamstix do the rest. everynow and then I will do a track in FL just for the change in workflow, but sonar is my mainstay now...

Thats just the problem, they own the companies to create media and distribute it. Its a pretty big conflict of interest, and they favor big brother tactic copy protection/digital rights management schemes, so f**k sony...

But will doing this make FL studio the slave and Ext the master? This is basically what I want.
And do you have to use EXT VST? Thanks for the reply Hink, I'll give it a try!
