FL Rewire

I ran into a bit of an unexpected problem last night. Engineering a song with FL slaved to SX via Rewire. Using FL as my drum pattern arranger, and for a few synths. I have some midi channels in SX being routed to FL.

The step seq in FL have way over 16 channels. And I have more than 16 midi channels in SX that need routing to FL. I think i just realized that FL has a 16 channel rewire limitation. This has me totally stumped. Is there a way around this ? The manual does not state anything beyond 16 channels.

I guess I could use FL as a VSTi, but I am having issues with the timelime cursor in the playlist, and the active step LED in the step seq., not following the correct position when FL is used as a VSTi, even though everything plays back fine.
