Yes it would be a very nice strategic tool. Frankly, I'm tired of all these pretentious posters who always say,"Use your ears" or, "Experience".
Like others have said, it would be nice to a have a visual...it might just change the way you view frequencies with reguards to an entire mix. More power to you if your ears are so damn golden that you think everyone should go down the same long, hard road of learning the way you did...

If you think being pretentious is telling people the right way to make great mixers then get a clue. this statement is so funny. The long hard road is what it is, it is how you mix. You think some plugin is going to make you a better mixer? That is laughable.MadPsyance wrote: More power to you if your ears are so damn golden that you think everyone should go down the same long, hard road of learning the way you did...
Everybody wants a shortcut, but some things take years to get good at, and no plugin will help with that. If you think it will, then your post is even more amusing.

I don't think such a plugin would be a shortcut...just a visual aide...and maybe a damn good visual learning aide. Expecially for teachers.
It's official...my very first KVR argument. If only the real world was so serene....

I think such a plug-in would be a great idea and I've had similar thoughts before. All this 'use your experience' stuff is all well and good but I bet there were similar cynics a few thousand years ago saying 'Who needs these new-fangled wheels? Just carry the stuff there'.

I see what you are saying, but you will be a WAY better mixer when you can hear instruments and tell what frequencies need adjusting just by tweaking your EQs.
If I was going to teach, I would plant a student in fron of an EQ, load up different instruments and go about it that way.

Well Roland, when that invention that mixes for you happens, you will be saying I told you so!...but most likely you will be 6 feet under, so may as well learn to mix the right way.
Anyway, its fun.

Who's asking it to mix for you, stash98? Do you understand the concept of an aide or a tool? I hope to god you're not short-sighted, lest you have to rely on bifocals.

wow, type A or what?
No, please tell me what an aide is..I dont get that
. I use things like EQs and tweak them with different instruments. This helps me learn my EQ and each instruments frequency range. It is more efficient because you are killing 2 birds with one stone and becoming a better mixer at the same time.

It sounds like what you want is just a spectrum analyzer that's efficient enough to run an instance per-track.rpc9943 wrote:what if there could be a plugin that can analyze every frequency of tracks you input? for example, you could input guitars, drums, bass, vocals, and easily see the spectral space that each one takes
