Hi, I've just recieved an e-mail asking if I would like to have my music featured on the cover CD for a "Life Quality" magazine (it covers things like music therapy, relaxation etc etc). It looks kosher.

They say there will be a page for the cover CD artists, so I get a little bit of space for my "resume".

I've said in principle "yes". I'm assuming I don't get any money (which I am ok with), obviously if they start asking me for money they will be shown the door...is there anything else I need to be aware of/watch out for?

If it makes a difference I'm in the UK, they are in Brasil. The music is entirely mine so there are no ownership, performance complications.

congratulations!
why would they ask for money? they should be paying YOU money so i'm kind of confused.

Thanks..no, it's just a general thing, you get solicitations..then they say "oh we need a bit of money to do X"..a common scam..but as I say I think this one is genuine. I also think it's unlikely they will pay me, it's a free cover CD, I'm sure they feel that it's a fair exchange..they have said, which I forgot, that there is page for the the featured artist in the magazine..I'll edit that into my post now..

yeah even though the cd is free, the magazine isnt. you seem like the type of producer who isnt greedy and is looking for exposure so this is a good thing to participate in. but you might want to write up a contract for this and have them sign it just to be safe.
