I'm not YET impressed by this library, as I'm plagued with what often happens with demosongs of sample libraries: The actual samples are amidst layers and layers of other instruments and effects!

Is there a no-reverb, only-the-choir demo song version of this choir? I know that reverb makes things sound better and naturally everyone with these samples will use reverb, but if you really think your product is better than the competition, why not let us "see" it in the "nude"?

First and foremost, where has it been stated that we feel our product is better then the competition? That's a very bold and arrogant claim. There is worth in all sampled libraries. Its up to the users to determine what product is best for their needs. We do feel that our product holds up professional to any competition and the demos *do* make it very clear. You can research other alternatives, but you will *not* find a library as dedicated to the youth choir as The Giovani Edition. Nor, can you find *any* choir library under an MSRP of $399.99 that boasts 24 bit sampling, natural ambience via near and far mics placement, intuitive software to reconstruct or recreate phrases and so on.

Reverb: If you would please take the time to read through the posted information, the Giovani Edition was captured with true church ambience. There are no *dry* samples for you to audition. Place 32 voices in a dead room and you would soon find out why thee should never be a *dry* recording of any choir.

Demos: The Birth of Addison by Rob Elliott is a very exposed example of the Giovani Voices.

Lastly, we hope in time a demo will be presented that will *impress* you or help you understand what we are offering. Perhaps it would be a good idea to request the complete users guide?

I'd like to point out that I never claimed that you felt your product was superior to competitors, I said "*IF* you feel that your product is better than ..." But let's not get stuck on words.

I did notice that the choir was recorded in a church but you have to agree that mic-placement plays a huge role in how much room sound you have in the end, correct? Judging by the demo songs, including The Birth of Addison which you mentioned, I was fairly confident that extra reverb had been added because at least to my ears the amount seemed quite abundant. It seems that I was mistaken in my assumption. To my ears the reverb amount is a bit too much when compared to other choir samples, not necessarily to say that it's an entirely negative thing. On the other hand it delivers excellent and unique room-sound that no reverb-effect could reproduce but on the other hand it limits the user to use only the give room and no possibility to get a "closer" sound that you'd go for in more pop/rock-oriented music. Which seldom or never take use of childrens choirs, so I've argumented myself into a dead end.

The near mics offer more of a direct and not too ambient of a sound. I see what you are saying now - Yes, each composer did splash in a touch of the provided impulse file which may have made the voices too ambient for your taste. Its very hard to please everyone with a handful of demos. The library is only two weeks old

But thank you for the input. I will mention it to our composers.

We did with the Birth of Addison demo or at least that was the goal. Many, if not all choir demos to date have orchestration around the. Nonetheless, I will speak with the composers. We hope to have a few videos as well. You have to see how simple and power VCU is!! Not too mention Giovani is the ONLY choir library at this price point to offer legato x 3 modes of.

One thing I want to make clear... There is only so much ambience and width one can capture when dealing with a group of 16 voices in 2 rows of 8 (per gender). In theory everything can be done but in reality, there is only so much distance you can capture before all is noise and etc. Giovani is very alive and at the same time, very clean. I have a strong feeling that you will be very happy with the near mics - out of the box.

A very popular misconception is that a choir library should be way produced with ultra width and bathed in 10k, forced tuning via software and etc. That is not the goal with Giovani. Giovani is the real deal. Nothing was faked, forced or produced.

In any case, grab the users guide to learn more. 68 pages will answer many of the questions you may have.

Composer's Notes
Faith Distorted is my second Giovani demo. I wanted to tap into the more eerie and evil side of the choir (the additional effects are great). I wanted my approach to be completely different from the first one, “Heavens Part”, http://www.beladmedia.com/audio/heaven-nv.mp3 which focused more on the angelic quality of the singers. So, late one night in my studio, I turned off the lights and started playing with the samples. When I heard the Lord’s Prayer as one of the instruments, I knew that it would be the foundation for my cue. To make it sound even more trippy and eerie, I ran the prayer (and the male whispers) through Spectral Delay and then starting forming a cue around that vibe. After the prayer, we get into a more groove based section, and the the choir opens up a bit to cut through the thick drum sounds. Of course, I couldn’t resist throwing in one more “Amen” at the very end of the piece. AMEN!
