Did a bit of testing. Might be of some use for comparison between differents systems.
Running 7 tracks 16bit about 5 minutes each. Saved it and reloaded it again a few times. No crackle whatsoever even when moving around the GUI.
Here's the system specs:
pIII 1.2 ghz overclocked to 1.4
win xp sp1
384 meg ram
Western Digital 60 gig IDE
Audiophile 24/96 running at 128 samples (buffer size)
and an SBlive for an extra midi port. (kx drivers)
Asus Tusl2-c
Geforce 4 Ti4200
running at 1024/768 in 32bit color.
Tweak the XP a bit but not much. Mainly got rid of the bubblegum look and processor scheduling is setup for background task.
Runs great!

Looks like there are more problems with RME and Echo cards.
Someone has proplems (with eXT) not using a RME or Echo ?
Or the other way who has a RME or a Echo and no Problems at all in eXT ?
Maybe we are on the right way.
Maybe jorgen fixed it already that would be best.
eXT HAS to rock on RME and echo's !

It should give you more performance when using lower latencies.
Some good tips on tweaking over that site. Might wanna check the links to other sites also. Great stuff!

Realtec and Asio4all: lotsa crackles when moving gui...spits and sputters and slowdown when cpu gets high.ttwalter wrote:Someone has proplems (with eXT) not using a RME or Echo ?
M-box: same problem lately for some reason. Used to be much better than the realtec but now almost the same.

HI
Just for the record I have an RME 9632? (I always get the model mixed up) - I get some crackle when moving the gui but otherwise no poping unless I am maxxing out the cpu.
On my internet PC - which has a decent M-audio card/asio I get some terrible crackling when browsing - which I had not noticed before as I don't usually do both together - I like to take em one at a time
.
Flipper.

Thats realy strange,
some cards work better with Asio4all some work more worse.
And even more strange on some systems it goes more worse over time ???
(service packs ? patches ?) ever tried a clean install ? I know it's (we polite germans use that word not so much
) SH**
U..U jorgen must be a kommunist the cheaper your soundcard is, the less problems you have
It's like the good soundcarddrivers
demand more priority to them self.
The more information is there the better the prob could be fixed or the more confused i get
