A Spektrum Analyser version can be found here: http://www-users.rwth-aachen.de/Christi ... A-prev.zip
But i'm not very happy with it. Takes about 1.4% more CPU on my machine, which is good, but the spectrum is not 100% the exact spectrum :-(
The bass and the upper highs are emphasized, so you may probably reduce too much highs and too much of the bass. Trust your ears not your eyes,

This thing sounds awesome as a filter! I just added some life to a synth track with it by automating a midrange boost, giving a nice juicy bandpassy sound. I automated it in Live, you should see how f**king cool it is to watch! This cool line squirming around like a worm to the music! :hihi:

Hi Christian,

This version caused an "access violation" error message and a crash of Cubase SX 3.02 (latest build).
I was using the Numbers skin at the time - so that might have thrown a spanner in the works.

Otherwise all other versions have been fine.

yep. i get access violations while reading, too. when trying to enable the spectrum analyzer a series of error dialogues pop up (ie lots of access violations ;) ). (using nuendo3)

Yep - I meant to say the access violation error in Cubase SX 3 comes up when I try to enable the spectrum analyser.

but i can not repro this again. had it the first time. the next time i carefully set a hanning window and activated spectral view while stopped. and everything worked since then (i really do not think what i did mattered, rather i think there would be a problem on first use..)

Bugs in the beta .5:

Basically I didn't notice any new ones, but minor things that were present in the previous versions (well, probably you already knew about them, anyway):

1. Move the moog filter up/down to change Q, then switch to LPF and the overall level gets stuck up/down.
2. Resetting from (especially from the situation 1.) LPF doesn't reset the last point properly
3. Saving the defeault preset doesn't save the (classic/linear...) mode or the bands number
4. Points get accessed 'before' if coming from L than from R with the mouse cursor

Good luck with your study!

btw, the spectrum overlay looks great! the bent at the high frequencies does look a little irritating though (perhaps just do not draw -inf?). and it would be nice, if you (ie christian) could match the scaling of the (implified theoretical) curve and the spectrogram a little better.

this eq will really set a new standard i think. if you get your fluxions right ;)

CWbudde,

do you think you could consider my Q idea? i think rmb would be best to do the Q whereas another button or graphical icons could be set for the different types. it just would work better, wouldnt it guys?

i prefer that as it is. for me rmb means context-/object-methods-menu whereas q is clearly ;) meant to be set with a modifier. i'd prefer the auto-curve to be modifier-triggered, too.

the latest crashed in T2, VERY badly when clicked on graphical analyzer "active"

I like the way you can change the node type by moving the cursor left and right with a selected node and the Q modifier on. Nice touch there.

i think itd be cool to have a menu to be able to select what does what ;)

I make use of 1 band EQ often and using and calculating even 4 bands for that takes too much CPU. Please consider bringing back add and remove band.

alt+right-click on any band disables it - so you can switch three bands off and just leave one enabled and then save it as default! ;-)
