Hey! I just wondered if you had any sick, spaced out, weird, unnormal effects to recommend? I'm really looking for some effect to us especially on leads (mostly psytrance) to get them really really weird. Any suggestions?
Computer games don't affect kids, I mean, if pacman affected us as kids we'd all run around in a darkened room munching pills and listening to repetitive music...

PSP Nitro can do some very weird stuff - just mess around with the LFO's or input envelopes, and the mod matrix, to get the sound you're after

I'd say PSP Nitro, PSP84, CamelSpace, CamelPhat should get you where you want to go. Try chaining a few fx together for some very unexpected sounds.

The Classic Auto-Filter can be made to do some decidedly weird things. So can the Elottronix XL.

Without a doubt... STS-17 - The Transition Synthesizer V.1.4c ... and Swamp Synthesizer V.1.1
Click on the two synths I just mentioned above from the top center Synthesizer column window...
Well, these really aren't effects, but I love the sounds you can get from these VSTis. They can produce sounds I don't really think you can achieve from FX plugs.

most psytrance sounds comes weird from synths and no effects make them weird
experiment with fast lfo-s on pitch, cutoff, reso or really anything.
secondly try wavetable synthesis, also a good source for wicked psy sounds.

for FX run everything through a sampler in time mode, then tweak grain size and speed to get that warped 'roboty' slow down effect. easy peasy
