Simanalogue's Amp Sim does not play well with Sonar. How do you think Boogex compares for driven guitar?

I've not had any problems with the simanalog amp sim within Sonar (I assume you're refering to JCM 900) Neither are quite as good as miking my amp, but sometimes thats not possible. I tend to use the simanalog for more distorted sounds than the boogex. I'm still using the included impulses with boogex, so I havent really experimented with others yet. So far I really like boogex for a mid level distortion. I like it's tweakability better as well. I can actually see it possibly replacing JCM900 for me in the future.
Here is a song where I used boogex on all guitars, epiano and also bass as well as a touch on drums. Please pardon my pathetic mixing skills. http://www.audioshots.com/auditorium/vi ... php?t=2337
I hope this helps. What problems are you having with the simanalog plugs in Sonar?

I think the problem is with the Sonar Adapter. It has been discussed before. I do not recall exactly, but I think you cannot get a proper stereo effect.

Hey, Van. I listened to your toon. Very nice.

I think reducing compression and maybe the level of the snare is a good idea. Maybe even more importent is to raise the prominence of the hi hats/rides so the snare is not so alone out there. Just my .02$.

Nice job (the guitars sounded cool).

Oh I see. I almost always record guitars as mono tracks so maybe I've just not noticed this. Now I'm gonna have to check it out.

Hey, thanks man! :D

I turn the drive down low, and load up some Neve impulses I got from noisevault. Then I mess with the eq. It sounds good, takes the digital edge off and makes the more punchy/gritty. Only thing is it won't pass a stereo signal, but for kick and snare it's not a big deal.

:-o :-o You are way too modest, Van Greco!!!! WOW!! You rock, dude. Great work. Terrific vintage sound. I wouldn't even critique your mix. Okay, maybe it isn't George Martin, or Tom Dowd, But dude, you are definitely getting there, sooner than later. :D :D :D

Gotta go play it again,

Why thank you good sir. I am pleased that thine auditory receptors found mine humble work pleasing. Were you in the general vicinity, I would buy you the fermented alcoholic beverage of your choice in gratitude for your kindly words.
