On my PC i'm using midi ports as such: Emu card with 1in/1out, a MPU 401 midi/game port on the mobo with 1in/1out, and an older Opcode Midi Translator PC 2in/2out on the printer port...i've got them all working great and they all show up in Cubase no prob...i have a Nord Micro Modular which requires a dedicated midi i/o port for programming the synth (not for midi note/contoller input&output, that has a second set of midi i/o), i want to dedicate the MPU 401 port for the task, when i fire up the Micro Mod app alone it works flawlessly (nice to see my old friend)...the problem i'm having is i can't figure out how to disable the 401 port in Cubase so it will remain dedicated to the Micro Mod's programming duties...is it possible to do this in Cubase VST/Cubasis,or would i need a more advanced version like SL or SX? i've looked at the manual and the app and couldn't find the answer...
as an aside, i'm also looking at Tracktion 2, can i easily enable/disable midi ports in that app?
(btw, thanks for all the help guys, things are starting to really come together over here, still a lot of new stuff to learn...but i'm actually, really making progress for sure!)
as always, thanks,
rg
Cubase VST 4 Question Re: Disabling Midi Ports

For VST there is a 'setup MME' shortcut on the start menu- all programs- Cuabse VST folder.
That allows Midi prots to be diabled, and re-rodered for use by VST.
That obviously applies to the PC platform, but I assume that there is a similar tool in VST4 (which was MAC only, I beleive).
In the SX versions of Cubase, the ports may be disabled by hiding them in device setup.

Bas: got it...i'll try it now-i'll check out your online Cubase stuff as well, although it's fairly straitforward and pretty close to Studio Vision (my old mac sequencer app)i'm still learning the PC ways of doing things...
