so what? i can beat that easily, check it:ttoz wrote:Read em and weep.
19, yes, 19 AMBIENCES.
I SOOOOOOO wanted to break the 20 mark. Oh well.
The kicker? at 128 sample buffer on an m-audio firewire solo interface

I had it playing back for 10 minutes, both cpu's were in the red zone on logic's meter, not ONE click not ONE dropout. There just isn't any other native host that can do this. Oh yeah, and BOTH cpu's chockablock and screen redraws still fast enough to use?
I am finally in host heaven.
Now if I can get rid of that damn hoover noise that kicks in for a second when the cpu is at high usage (but it DOES disappear after), then I'll be in super heaven.
So dual 2.7 + Logic truly does equal the sort of power I expected..well, close enough![]()
I just cant believe the integrity of the audio quality at such low latency and maximum cpu load.
I DON'T HAVE TO USE A STUPID, EXPENSIVE, TRENDY, CLOSED-ENVIRONMENT APPLE BOX TO MAKE MUSIC
ha! beat that!

I'm interested
The only thing is that I too bought a dual 2.7 and it didn't do much better in performance than my 2.8 pentium, and.....once I got the the amd 64 up and running (what a nightmare that was) it just laid the mac waste.......exact soundcard, exact same plugs on both machines....
Now..........belive me.........I feel good for ya, I'm really glad you like your system

When you say "Ambiences", are you talking about the VST effect or some native thing in Logic? Because I could load up 100 Ambiences in ORION and the CPU wouldn't take any kind of hit unless they were processing stuff.
I could probably get close to 20 Impulse Response Processors, as long as the impulses were relatively short, and actually use them, I just can't imagine working that inefficiently.
On average I can get roughly 8 to 10 native instruments + effects for each 10% of CPU usage. i.e. 5 instuments + 5 effects or 6 instruments + 4 effects, etc.

My athlon 64 3500+ 2Gig system red lines at 18 audio tracks (from drums to leads to drones) with 20 effects processors (most of 'em Waves Gold eq's and comps) in Live 4.0 rewired to Reason 3.0 with 98 active devices (including 8 Combinators).

Was the last version of Logic for PC that far behind the times? Still usable or outdated?
