Cakewalk Homestudio 2 and FLStudio VSTi?

Okay, I recently found out FLStudio can run in a host as a VST (yay!), so I decided "cool, I'll use it as a drum machine." Well... I can't figure out how to get FLStudio to record into Cakewalk, and the documentation doesn't say a thing about it; it just says "FLStudio's audio will be routed through your sequencer." How would I be able to do this? I'd really like to use it as a drum sequencer and sampler inside Home Studio.

You need to open FLStudio as if it were a virtual instrument from the synth rack. Audio is routed in the same manner as if FLStudio were any other virtual instrument. You might also want to post over on the Cakewalk Forums for additional help if needed.

I already knew that. The problem is with other virtual instruments, you can bounce the MIDI to an audio track. There's no MIDI for FLStudio in Cakewalk. The manual says to sequence everything regularly in FLStudio, but it doesn't tell me how to get the sequence into Cakewalk so I can sequence it next to my other gear.

you are correct sir,
the midi for FLS in this case is contained in FLS
i don't know about Home Studio, but if it's like other Cakewalk products, you can do the primitive, manual freeze/bounce to track method
--Bypass all other tracks
--set track markers for the section of teh FLS track you want to record -- possibly the whole song
-- export to wav (with tails as appropriate)
you should now have an audio file for use anywhere you choose
(and FLS is a killer drum machine esp with the additional kits and samples from their CD sample set site)

Yeah, I tried that too. In Cakewalk the imported audio speeds up for no reason at all and everything gets out of sync by measures 4 or 5. Guess I'm screwed for now.
But thanks.

Not necessarily. You can call Cakewalk tech support. They are currently open for business as we speak and tech calls are free. I'm sure they could help you.Ildon wrote:Yeah, I tried that too.
