I'm happy you've found a solution that pleases you ttoz, I know firsthand how frustrating host shopping can be; I've been shopping for over a year now, and my conclusion is that I hate them all
. Tracktion is the only one so far that I can stomach, and then not for very long due to all the needed workaround, bugs and half implemented features. I wish I liked logic, the idea of an efficient audio engine is quite appealing. I hope for your wallet that you stick with it this time though; ever calculated how much this VSTI buying/selling saga has costed you? Just curious.

Is that with Logic 6 or 7?

I can't run BONES' 100 Ambiences, Dee Ess Pee's 31, or even ttoz's 19 on my PC laptop, but I have found a useful workaround...
Apparently in many hosts you can use something called an "Aux Send". The idea is this: You simply run ONE - yes, just ONE!
- Ambience on and "aux bus" and "send" some or all your tracks through it. You can even vary the amount of signal processed from each track on a percentage basis.
Apparently this is how things used to be done back in the olden days

I think your missing the point headquest; this, as I understand it, was just a test for the efficiency of the audio engine. Everybody here knows about routing I'm sure, but what do you do when you only hit 60% and playback clicks and pops like crazy like it does here on my system? You start rendering/freezing tracks which is really detrimental to the creative process or you bump the latency but there is a point where it's not playable anymore. I believe ttoz when he says that the logic audio engine is more efficient than the rest, but it's just not enough to make me buy it

FWIW, the audio engine of Logic/Win is just almost as efficient. Only that it's lacking some things (which ttoz allready mentioned).
Oh, but you can run more audio tracks or streaming samples on almost all modern PCs, if that's your desire.

Just guessing here, but he probably spent enough that he could have hired his own private programmer to write his own private sequencerheadquest wrote:

Yeah, I'm kind of jealous also

But then I'm no saint either.

p.s.: @headquest - you were right about live, I'm very close to buying L5 (as I've already got the Lite version - pretty limited argh)

By native you mean mac only?I had it playing back for 10 minutes, both cpu's were in the red zone on logic's meter, not ONE click not ONE dropout. There just isn't any other native host that can do this.
Sonar 4.0.3 (PC) can mantain excruciatingly high CPU loads without a hitch.
Personally I dont think that test accurately concludes that the audio engine in Logic is better. A test of all software needs to be performed very objectively on the same hardware to make such claims. Was this done? Perhaps in another thread I have not seen?
Its rather late, so if I missed something then just disregard my post

I've done some pretty neutral comparison between SX3 and Logic 5.5.1 (PC) a while ago, used the same plugins, same amount of audiotracks and same amount of VSTi/voices. It came out that Logic was around 30% more effective, even without taking dynamic plugin allocation into account (so all tracks were playing simultaneously).tranceglobal wrote: A test of all software needs to be performed very objectively on the same hardware to make such claims. From my personal experience, CPU-wise Logic 6/7 are even another step ahead, but I can't do any 1:1 comparisons right now.

If you think some random interjection sound is like a hoover, it's highly likely that neither of you have any idea what a hoover sounds like.eyeknow666 wrote:Yikes, the noise was awful..........ttoz wrote:Tell me, did you have the hoover noises too?
