Anybody know where I can find waterphone samples? If you haven't seen them, they are shown right here Since I work with sampler/synths and no samplers per se, I'd need to find it in either .wav or .sf2 formats.

The first I've ever heard of it. I reckon you'd need to talk to someone who owns one and get them to do up some samples for you.
The demos sound really excellent, but, er... Do you really have to go swimming with it in order for it to work?
* Just to add: It probably wouldn't be that hard to emulate if you know your way around a decent programmable FM synth..

btw Harm Visser has made a Waterphone patch for Tassman - it's a bit noisy but you can tweak it - I don't think it's quite right still (sounds a bit too hammered at times) but it's playable and definately better than a sample (Waterphones are too non-linear for sampling to capture their playing quality adequately imho). He's managed to pull of some of the sloshy swirly quality using the modwheel nicely though. He's also done some Bowed Gongs recently that sound closer in some respects.

Also, Absynth comes with pretty usable waterphone preset. I think it's the best non-sampled / non-physically modelled waterphone out there. Except for the real thing, of course.

It's in "Ethnic, ambient & FX" bank. There are actually 4 variations. Combining them is usually for me the way to go.

VSL Horizon Series / Fx Percussion. There's a waterphone with different articulations included in the library. From my experience with VSL, it's probably the best you'll find.
They've got a deal going at the moment too!

Thanks, I'll give that a look. As an update, I've had to complete this piece pretty quickly (modern dance music), and had to think of some other sounds to use. But, short of getting a waterphone some day, the sound would be handy now and then.ChimeraMan wrote:VSL Horizon Series / Fx Percussion. I think there was one in the great E-mu soundfont giveaway. About six years ago.
