errr.. by ripping off i was trying to say that i wanna be someone that other people want to sound like. Like remember nirvana and pearl jam? every other band wanted to sound (and did sound) like them because they were the best at what they did. Every few years along comes an artist or musician or whoever that completely turns everything else before it on its head and kick is up the arse, and its so good and soo sucessful and so popular, that everyone else is trying to copy them. well, my dreams is to become one of those people within the next five years! It might be coz of hard work, it might be coz of experience, then again is might happen out of stupid dumb luck.. either way.. i want it to happen to me. Thats all!

In 5 years? I'd like to:

- Get good at playing keyboards

- Have a CD or two worth of material

- Actually sell one or two CDs of said material

- Learn to sing

- Write better lyrics

- Actually finish my websites

5 Years?? Things usually do not last that long here. I can not think about life beyond one year. I am not even sure it will last that long.

I hope to finish the album I'm working on within a year from now and independantly sell it. I might try shopping it around to indy labels, but I'm really not expecting anything to happen.

Five years from now I'd like to think that I'll have finished another album or two, and I'm hoping that by that time the internet, mp3s, automated payment services and filesharing will change the way independant musicians make a living.

Mainly I'd like to think that someday soon, with the recent crackdown on payola that it will be possible for indy musicians to get their stuff played on mainstream radio stations instead of just college and internet radio. I don't think I'd ever want to deal with a major record label, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be thrilled to hear one of my own songs on the radio.

this is one of those awful questions they ask in job interviews
and worse employes sometimes include it in yearly reviews
a co-worker and I took to quoting Gang of Four 'my ambition is to have ambition

i'd like to be able to play better keyboards -- really be happy just to play without having to think about what the notes are and where the fingers go. i know it's possible I can do it on other instruments

a lot of things:

- make a living from my music

- learn to play Guitar as fast as Django

- get a much better timing when playing any instrument

- getting back and increasing my skills as a drummer

- learn to track a bass-sound I'm satisfied with

- improving my bass-skills

and much more stuff...

In five years I reckon I'll have one more album done, hopefully 2. I shifted about 200 of the last one - not too shabby - and I really don't care how many get out this time: It's just something in the blood I have to do. I'd like to see my daughter playing an instrument well (she'll be 9) but my sons may still be too little for it. I'd like to have osme more time to do stuff, but I'm realistic about my chances - that's why it took 5 years to write the last album and 18 months to record it. That was 2 years ago and I've only got 3 new songs fully written!

Music isn't something you have to be famous for any more. You can do good stuff which sounds professional for such a low cost (relatively) now, that why not just do it. I raise a bit of cash for charity with mine, and that's really just a bonus.

Oh, and I'd like to try drumming, maybe get a bass job in a band somewhere, and carry on with my new band (which is probably the best I've ever played in - I'm doing guitar and lead vocals, not bad going since I'm easily the worst singer in the band)

whats your musical goal for the next 5 years?
