The snap control has stopped workin in my FL5, i can choose the options on the snap selection box, but they all seem to be doing the same thing, there all snapping to the beat lines and it doesnt matter what i change it to its always the same....i cant use slip mode at all, its very strange
this has suddenly happend, a matter of hours ago it was fine, now it does it with every arrangement i open
I've also tried reinstalling FL aswell and this hasent fixed it.
anybody got any ideas how i can fix it
cheers

I'm relatively new to FL5 (just got it a few days ago) but haven't they changed the snapping paradigm so that there are now independent snaps for play list, piano roll etc.? Could the answer be in this somehow? Good luck.

There is a global snap control in the tool-bar up the top. There are local snap controls in the Piano-Roll and Play-Lists. All look like a waffle (small grid/box).JoMal wrote:I'm relatively new to FL5 (just got it a few days ago) but haven't they changed the snapping paradigm so that there are now independent snaps for play list, piano roll etc.? I suspect that you have set one of the local ones to something other than 'global'.

Really? How? Does it BSOD or simply change it's skin into a Reason-like snakepit of cables?Carbonboy wrote:It does.kovacs wrote:FLS doesn't snap to audio???

We are obviously on different pages as your answer doesn't make sensekovacs wrote:Really? How? Does it BSOD or simply change it's skin into a Reason-like snakepit of cables?Carbonboy wrote:It does.kovacs wrote:FLS doesn't snap to audio???

When someone says 'snap to audio' I assume they mean snap audio? In which case the play-list does indeed snap audio-clips, slice etc according to the snap settings.

Carb, it's a joke. There is no such thing as "Snap to audio"...except I think there's a "Snap to audio Zero Crossings" setting in Sonar which I have no clue what does.

Snap to zero crossing does appear in FL, this is useful when setting sample-start/end points or loop start/end points to avoid clicking, the program (FL Slicer for example) will move to the next zero-cossing....where the waveform is passing through the 0 point.

Good to know.
So that joke is a bit tired. It works best when newbies ask "Does FLS Snap to midi???".

the technical term would be quantize. that should help you out quite a bit. the playlist can be quantized so everything lines up proper

It's not a bug, you must have used one of the local snap settings and forgot.fabi the underachiever wrote:i had the exact thing happen to me a few days ago... too bad i can't remember how i managed to take care of it... i just remember that i didn't need any reinstalls or anything. just a while of trial'n'error and getting pissed off, and then it worked again...
