Yahoo isn't exactly instantaneous. It repeats news published by wire services and other media outlets. And I suspect the Moog family will have been occupied.
Guess we'll have to wait for confirmation or denial.
I hope it's true, sad as it will be. He's been suffering terribly, with little hope of improvement.

unless the story is about heads of state or popular stars, news agencies tend not to report on deaths until an offical statement is given to the press by the family, agents, etc.Chase wrote:butr that post was made 4 hours ago. yahoo would have it by now.
if he has passed on, then those people are in mourning right now and the offical word will be published later.

It's up on the Moog Music website now.

I was really surprised that more people weren't discussing this. Guess some people around here don't know who he was other than it's the name of some plugin and some filters <sigh>
Anyway... this is a very sad day. We should have a moment of silence and send good wishes to his spirit and for his family.

Truly a sad day.
And the foundation that's being started in his name should be something special. It tells about it on his website.

So very sad. A great legacy. If you ever met the guy he was incredibly friendly and fun spirited. Our booth used to be right across from his at NAMM. We're all going to miss him.

Squids... I always enjoy reading your posts. Do you have maybe any Bob Moog stories that you would be willing to share with us?

It's hard not to notice the impact that Moog made to the world of synthesisers spending alot of my time in this forum or reading CM and SOS.
I've noticed many developments that seem to stamp a reference to Moog somewhere.
Although I don't really know much about Bob Moog myself, I can't help thinking that we have been better off because of the work he has done throughout his lifetime.
Not too many people have the opportunity, luck, courage, .... to create a lasting and positive legacy on our community. It looks like Bob Moog is one of those people.
So it's a sad loss in one sense, but I'm guessing that many in this forum will be able to say their farewells with a genuine sense of appreciation for the life that Bob Moog lived and the value he has added to us as musicians/composers.
