the world did suffer a loss, a family suffered a loss, and I must say RIP...but I would rather not be sad, I would rather believe that if he had brain cancer he may of suffered terribly and also caused a great deal of hardship, Instead he has passed with dignity and left quite a legacy.

I wish all the best for the family and hope the are able to get past theit loss quickly. As for me instead of thinking about the loss I'll cherish the gift he gaves us more and use this time to say thank you Bob. I will celebrate his accomplishments as I did not know the man. His accomplishments have always been with me, and always will. He hasn't left me, but he may of gone to a better place...farewell to a fine man...

A hero and innovator. His creations directly got me into electronic music waaaayyyy back when.

Actually Caleb it's hard not too.
The Moog Mini was patched / hardwired with the OSC - MIXER - VCA - VCF with LFO (+ mod routings) that has pretty much been used in any subtractive and every goddamn sampler/rompler and God knows what else since the late 70's and onward (including current rompler/sample libraries for VST instruments etc.
Remember before then all this stuff was modular and the Minimoog was an attempt at a portable and hence more gig-able analog synthesiser.
Sure you might take it for granted but it's become pretty much the blueprint from which all other synths have their signal patchs made bar a handful.
You name it the Wasp / Odessey / OSCar / Juno 106 and pretty much every Roland non-modular / MS10/MS20 /DW8000 etc all still base the prepatched signal flows obn those fundamental basics.
Man it is a huge loss.
Don Buchla would be a very sad fellow right about now as he and Bob where very chlose and both have been HUGE pioneers in synthesis technology.

It was only a few weeks ago that I watched the Moog documentary and couldn't stop thinking about how much of an innovator Dr Moog was. He brought electronic music to the masses and without him I suspect many of us would not be on this forum. So it was with sadness that I heard of his passing.

Goodbye Dr Moog. Thank you for all you have done. May your legacy live on in all of us.

I am sure there are some great stories that people have with Bob. I only have your typical "honor to meet you sir" stories running into him at NAMM shows. But, those are valuable to me personally. He was a really sweet person from what I could tell and what I've heard. His business card said "Bob Moog Grand Poobah".

You know who would have great Bob Moog stories is Brian Kehew. He was in the band Moog Cookbook (a great story itself). Brian is really good with stories. I'll bet you'll be able to find some on the net from him.

I will treasure my Moog Voyager and Minimoog forever as two really great examples of his work over such a long time. Masterpieces really. The Minimoog I have is a Musonic Mini with clear wheels too which is unusual. I used to have a full modular system but a friend has it now and I can come visit. I don't know anyone who doesn't love Moog (the man and the synthesizer). He'll be missed.
