Hell yes. I've watched it quite a few times.
Cool how they got those voice samples from interviewing people in the studio. "Have you ever hurt anyone? Did they deserve it?"
How about the bigassed sampler they used for the middle of "On the Run" and the story about the improv vocal solo in "The Great Gig in the Sky"...so beautiful to see how emotional they all are recollecting how things came together for them in writing and recording that.

It was an early version of a sampler/sequencer. I wish I could remember the name of the thing!
That middle part of "On the Run" was punched into it slowly, then quantized and sped up, when they kept it looping and applied a bunch of filters to get that sequence. Seems equipment has not evolved much since then.

I thought on the run was basically an EMS synthi or summat. I have the DVD but dont remember any "sampler" in it. Just the 8 ft long tape loop for money...

Maybe plain "sequencer" was a better term. Samplers at the time were more like Mellotrons and tape loops.Stupid American Pig wrote:I thought on the run was basically an EMS synthi or summat. I have the DVD but dont remember any "sampler" in it. Just the 8 ft long tape loop for money...
Whatever. The scene kicks ass.
