I've used PT a ton in the past (on a mac, old nubuse and for a short period on a G4)...i now have a PC w a P4 3.0...recently they dropped the price of the M-Box to US$349.00, fairly resonable...
does anyone know if you have the M-Box and PT can you use other audio hardware or are you stuck using Digi hardare? i know they use the M-Box as a dongle as such (as they do with Emu, my card, for the EmuX app)...i'd like to run PT on my Emu card as it has an adat interface that i want to use with my Yamaha mixer for a front end....
anyone have info on this?
thanks,
rg

Im not 100% sure, but I dont think you can do that. With the Mbox as your digi hardware, Im positive you are limited to 2 i/o. Obviously you can connect these to your mixer and then premix as many channels as you like.
The only third party hardware that can be used I believe is the Apogee stuff, which can be used to replace the Digi i/o on the TDM setups.
But again, dont quote me on that. I havent used PT since v5x.

Yeah - you can only use one Digi interface at a time with Pro Tools - and nothing else. I'd suggest staying away from Digidesign - they're a pretty lame company, IMO.

You could look into MPowered, it supports most M-Audio hardware. Gives you a lot more options.
I'm just wondering if the DigiDesign drivers won't b0rk an already working system (got the demo here, but I won't install untill I find this out).

i have the delta1010 and it doesnt fudge my asio drivers for other apps when installing the digi drivers. The mpowered seems to be more flexible, but appears to be the bastard stepchild when it comes to updates (still only a inital buggy tiger version for maccites)

Sounds good. Are you on Tiger yourself, or were you using this as an example? I'm on WinXPpro.herr_prof wrote:i have the delta1010 and it doesnt fudge my asio drivers for other apps when installing the digi drivers. That's what I'd do at that price level. The M-Box is a bit of a dog performance wise(USB 1.1),and M-Audio performs better with other apps than the 002R or M-Box.tetraplan wrote:You could look into MPowered, it supports most M-Audio hardware.
