Did you ever see those filters you put on a bottle of alcohol? Several passes through is supposed to make bottom shelf vodka taste like Grey Goose. Do they really work and how long does one last? I was wondering if they work the same as those Brita pitchers for water and if you could use that instead.

There was an experiment posted on Slashdot awhile back about this. They used Brita filters and really, really cheap vodka. Then did blind taste testing against hi-end stuff. After 2-3 passes I think they were indistinguishable.
I've been meaning to try this for a really long time, actually. Anyway, try searching the slashdot archives and you'll find the article. It was pretty informative.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Finally! I keep telling everyone Fris might even taste smoother than some that cost twice as much. No one has ever heard of it. I bought it because the bottle was kind of neat, but I think it is one of the best.Hink wrote:after a few it all tastes the same anyhow..

The cheapest vodka you can buy around here is called Russian Prince. Its in a grey plastic(!) bottle with a goofy picture of a prince on it. It tastes pretty awful.
I've been thinking of running it though a few Brita filter runs for awhile now.
edit: I found the slashdot article on brita filtering vodka

Yep, but the trouble is it turns it into formaldehyde!
Hence "a pickled liver".
You cant beat people up then have them say "I love you"
