...I'm going to buy one of them....but which one? I'm demoing them both right now. I've heard Ohmboyz praise everywhere. Nothing on Ronin though. Any thoughts? Ronin's modulation matrix is quite impressive.

Thanks all :)

Hey Vurt,

Just out of curiosity, have you tried Ronin? I would like to hear direct comparisons. Ohmboyz is freakin' fun though!

:)

Ohmboyz is fantastic, and despite Ronin's mod matrix I don't think it could ever match Ohmboyz modulation capabilities (LFO or env for almost every parameter)

Ronin is cheaper though... but Ohmboyz is worth it! If you're gonna buy one, buy Ohmboyz.

PS I use Discord and Deverb from Audio Damage a fair bit, they're 8)

have to be honest no i havent.
i bought ohmboyz in the sweet deal group buy last year.
it was a case of at those prices and quality i had too,in the first place it was mainly predatohm and QF i was after, not sure oif you ever listened to my stuff but i like destructive effects :D
but ohmboyz i fell in love with, some of the mangling capabilities are great.
guess what im saying is if you go for ohmies i doubt you would be dissapointed :)

but as always make sure you try em both, even with direct comparisons you will only get opinions,in the end its the one that pleases you that counts :)

but OHMies still roolzorz! :hail: :hihi:

I have both, I like both, both sound great. If I had to choose one, I'd choose Ronin.

I like the sound of Ronin's delay implementation better, and the modular routing is fantastic. Ronin works like a BBD analog circuit, so when something goes in and you change the time, echoes change in pitch. Ohmboyz doesn't work that way, it's meant to be a digital delay. Likewise the distortion on Ohmboyz doesn't sound specifically like anything in the analog domain. It's nice having both, because each serves a different sonic function.

Get which one you like best, of course, but if I were forced to play strong-arm dictator, get OhmBoyz if you need multitap, and lots of modulation. Get Ronin if you like modular things, and you want a delay with a bit more colour to its sound.

Two more points:

Ohmboyz has a cool preset morphing thing (standard in all things Ohm).

Ronin can be used for its separate components (filter, saturation, delay, pan).
