I was lucky enough to check out the new antares avox plugins at a friends house (beta tester). Each plug-in is of good quality (I dunno about sybil, I don't de-ess anything), but I was personally struck by throat and duo. Throat might not make you sound like another famous singer, ala say whitney houston, but it does make some very cool timbral changes which I definitely will use--anywhere from making the singer sounding younger or older, to slightly raspy or tougher. Sometimes it just makes it sound more in your face. It can also make some really bizarre but interesting sounds, even when putting instruments through it. Great for most any genre actually, depending on how to use it. It's not really that similar to the TC electronics stuff. It can even do some really out there sci fi sounds. So even though its called throat it works on anything.
Duo sounded great for double tracking and will probably become my primary plug-in for double tracking, as the doubled track yields a varied and thick sound. You have control over the second singer's pitch, vibrato, and timing variation.
Punch and Choir were cool but for my purposes I really love duo and throat.
My friend ran it in Logic as AU but says they have VST and rtas too. Can't wait to use it in my own studio, but for now i can process things at his house
anyone else heard these yet?
