Perfect to me, obviouslt.
Here's what I need it to be able to do:
1. Native (vst) - PC
2. Drag'n'drop plugs on inserts/sends (rearrange)
3. Customizable fades/x-fades
4. A number of recording modes to choose from would be benefitial.
What I don't need:
MIDI
External hardware support
Stuff like Re-Wire
Surround
so everything related to those areas is of no interest to me.
I never go over 30 tracks.
Used Cubase for a looong time, but need something simple, not so complex and buggy.
Thank you ppl

With those needs, it HAS to be Tracktion. Nothing else will fit you like a glove the way Tracktion will. There is currently no other host that will accomplish those main goals as simply and elegantly as Tracktion.
Customizable fades and cross-fades with a simple handle drag, OR using automation. Automatic one-click cross-fades for mathmatically perfect cross-fades between clicks. Simple re-arrangement of effects, including the potential to use modular routing in racks if you WANT, but by default it's just a linear "shift things around" drag and drop, including control+drag for making exact duplicates (ie. settings are the same).
Tracktion 2 has only 2 recording modes, but I'm not sure why you would need more-- normal recording and loop recording (ie. allowing you to do a guitar solo 30 times in a row and then either pick one or comp together the perfect solo).
I'm usually biased anyhow (preferring Tracktion myself), but when people have specific needs I do my best to be objective. Even objectively speaking, given the list of needs you have, Tracktion is the right fit.

I'd say Tracktion is your host, unless you need to timestretch something.

Sounds like tracktion to me, despite the fact that I have my issues with it. Looks like just what you're after

If you do need to timestretch something, maybe a used copy of Live3 would be good.

I'll check Tracktion asap. This is a very helpful place, thank you a lot.
I also hope to check out Live as I have an older version around (not sure what exactly but might be worth it if upgrade is possible).

You could rewire your Live version to Tracktion easily if you need to timestretch anything.
