Umm... maybe I'm being thick, but I'm sure, even with running an Apple OS, you won't be able to get logic (for a mac) running... cos apps like that are compiled down to machine code... and osx86 is just a port of the mac OS, not a mac emulator. So the actual code will be incompatible with an intel processor.

...Which emulates a G3. Which would make it a better bet to run Logic 5 on a modern PC.

you couldn't be more wrong.
how can you say something is better than something else if you don't know the purpose? a showel is good for showeling, but makes a bad hat.
the purpose of this thing would, for me, be to try out the newer logics (on my own comp). an old logic is not that good for trying out the new ones, now is it? ;)
i'm in the process of updating my comp, and i haven't decided whether i should just update the proc or get a system that supports sse3, and the info on how the present logic works in the present osx86 would affect my desicion.
of course eventually i'd be interrested in running logic pro x86, but atm i'm interrested in this.

People have already run logic express on Tiger x86 (using rossetta), but they were not audio heads so didnt do anything other than load it up.
I still have not got osx86 workin
been using the boot dvd with no success, im gonna try the .img to hdd method tonight

How can you tell if they're any good if you don't know if you can rely on the system?moonlite wrote:the purpose of this thing would, for me, be to try out the newer logics (on my own comp). an old logic is not that good for trying out the new ones, now is it?
Rosetta emulates a G3 like system (or G4 minus Altivec). The newer Logics require much more. Might as well try PearPC in the mean time.
Also don't forget the following:
- Running OS X on a machine that isn't a mac means you're using warez.
- The OS X you're attempting to use is the developement version. How do you know the definitive version is going to be anything like this? I expect this version to be crippleware.

you mean that it could be unstable? well, i bet apple will get their system stable enough ;) ... and as for the stability on my own comp, if it doesn't get stable enough, i'll do something about it... this is partly the reason why i'm asking around before buying ;)tetraplan wrote:How can you tell if they're any good if you don't know if you can rely on the system?moonlite wrote:the purpose of this thing would, for me, be to try out the newer logics (on my own comp). an old logic is not that good for trying out the new ones, now is it? ;)
1. afaik pearpc doesn't support audio at all?

2. afaik rossetta is much faster
3. osx86 is more fun than pearpc ;)
etc ...
what do you mean by "the newer logics require much more"? .. you mean a faster processor, or is there something else about the generations?
and, well, anyway, this would just be a test .. something to play with while waiting for x86 logic =)

Well... audio applications tend to require a bit more oomph than a processor emulator can provide. I'd be suprised/impressed if the emulator was fast enough for the latest version of Logic.moonlite wrote:doogle, that's the actual reason we have rosetta.

and anyway that wouldn't be the way i'd make music anyway. it would just be teh way to test its intuitivity.

Well the transition of Logic to x86 should be pretty swift
, but for all concerned, I have run Logic Pro 7.1 on my G3 500 Pismo laptop (albeit slow as a dog) so it is possible...
