old software / old pc

the pc is a laptop , pentium III 400 mhz 32 ram ( ) windows 98 ..
its not my main machine, and i was not using it for trying to do music, but recently read about people even doing stuff with a commodore64 , so i thought in giving other use to that pc and not just let it gain dust..

i want it use it just to create sounds, mmmm, i don´t think it would be capable of reading lots of wave files in a multitrack system.. and then i will transport that sounds to my other systems..

so any ideas??

If it is spare then why not have a go at learning Linux as it should still run well with that spec?

There is a fairly new version of Agnula Demudi which has a live cd as well as an install cd.
Try the live cd first and see how it goes.

These are iso images that you download and burn to cd, then boot with it.

Just realised though that your pc may not be able to boot from cd?

At the moment I am having fun building/messing with the Alsa modular synth. Now that makes some fantastic noises....

agnula demudi hangs and is slow on my pIII 550 and 224Mb ram compaq...i think it will not work on this pc...maybe with fluxbox, but the desktop is not the only thing, there some apps:-)

Get Orangator (sp?) (the original version, not the modular) for non-realtime synthing and then arrange your samples in your favorite tracker. You do have a favorite tracker, don't you?
