So, I am getting ready to install my VST's on a laptop I just bought ( and should receive in a few days ), and I just noticed that I never backed up the "Ohmygod" VST installer that I got with computer music or future music magazine a while back... Anyway, I tossed the CD that came with the magazine. Of course, it had the Ohmygod installer on it..

Is there a way I can get it from my desktop and install it on the laptop? I really need/want this plugin on the laptop.. I wish I could prove to you that I got it legitimately... so one of you can send it to me...

Any suggestions?

Thanks :)

All VST's are .dll files that are stored in your VST folder. Often the installer simply locates this folder for you and installs it there, but you could do that manually. There might be other support files too, which it may have copied as well.

If this was a commercial product protected by registration numbers or maybe crap installed into your registry, then maybe you are screwed. But it's worth just copying the files across and seeing what happens. If there is a registration code, it might be visible in the GUI? I don't own this VST, but the basic principles are the same ...

Aren't all the Future Music Plugins from the past as a backup on every new edition CD / DVD of the magazine?

Yeah they are, but I don't feel like buying the mag again...

You could always borrow someone elses provided you did have the legit copy first place.

Aye. He's canny.
You could also search the reg for any keys pertaining to your beloved free VSTs. Then export those keys. But, it would be cheaper to have one of us do it for you for free.

Or, find out who's in the same country as you and ask them if they have an old CM mag that they don't mind parting with for the cost of the postage.

I think I might have one such CD around, but I'm in Ottawa, Canada. If you're in Canada, it might work out for ya. ;)

1) Yup, I can't live without it.

2) The Magazine is about $20.00 here. That's not cheap!

3) I should be all sorted now.

Post your reciept for the magazine in addition to a pic of your driver's license and a scan of your sister's knickers and I'll hook you up.
