Not necessarily...that depends upon the implementation. Freezing creates a temporary render of the track/clip. What different sequencers do with these temporary renders varies...

Some programs (e.g. Adobe Audition and I think Cubase SX) seem to ditch the temporary renders and refreeze tracks each time you open the project. They can therefore take a long time to do so, as you say.

Others (e.g. Ableton Live 5, Tracktion) store the temporary render in the project, so that when you next open up the project it takes no longer to do so than it would if all the frozen tracks/clips were simply normal audio files. This is obviously a preferable method.

Every track can be a send now :

Image

In this example track 1 is sending to :

- the master
- the 4 sends
- the first 10 tracks

... with different levels.

Actually the only reason those 4 sends are still there is for familiarity sake and for the fact that plugins like DrumSynth, Sytrus, Soundfont Player, ... can only send to those 4 sends.

So where is the button that makes track 1 send to the other tracks?

Also, isn't there supposed to be mute and solo buttons now?

Also, is that little icon on the bottom of each track a little diskette image? Does that mean we can save individual tracks withot rendering the whole mix?

Man -- this is awesome. I can't wait. I NEED IT NOW!!!!

Don't know.

I believe the green LED above the pan and faders. Just like in the step sequencer.

I think that is the disk recordng icon for recording audio.

As always, I could be wrong.

It's the 'up arrow'. As soon as you enable it the level wheel appears.
...xander wrote:Also, isn't there supposed to be mute and solo buttons now?
It works as in the step sequencer.

This has always been possible as far as I know.

i guess it has something to do with the orange little icone-selector under the fader. when a track is selected, insert1 in that case, you can turn on the orange firtrees of any track you want and tweak the level with the knob on top.

...xander...either you can split mixer tracks while rendering, or what I do....arm each track you want to render like you would for recording, if you want to save it to a different location click it off then back on again for the save box. Once you have all the tracks you want rendered use the box in the upper left corner of the mixer>disc recording>render to wave....or use alt R...;)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Oh no! :dog:

Really?

You mean that, somehow, I can click on something and it will render a single mixer track to audio? :-o

How do you do it? I have no clue...

um, i'd have thought that your words are wasted as well really... what with you never intending to use FL, why get involved in a discussion about it? i guess that obvious enjoyment you get in attempting to present all the ways you do things as being superior to the ways other people do them is reward enough. but that's as dry grass in a fire.

what i really want to know is, what kind of bizarre resolution or variety of anomalous screen are you using that makes text written vertically look any different from text written horizontally? are your pixels really that far from being square?
i couldn't have replyed better.

Whoa crap!

Well, I've been rendering all the tracks with the split option. It's tedious, but I have not been able to discover any alternative to get, say 'Track 3' rendered to audio without everything else geting rendered as well.

What do you mean "arm each track you want to render"?

After that point, I don't follow you at all, though this is making me excited...

Alt-R ?? WTF??
