Anyone tried this:

http://www.transparentcorp.com/products/bss/index.php

If so, does it work, how does it change the quality of the music, and... IS IT SAFE  :scared:

Post

Nope, not tried it, nor do I know that much about brain entrainment in general.

However if you go to www.ultradia.org , you'll find some more info, and music, by a Dr. Diane Kirstner, who used to hang about at KVR a while back. She also commisioned/designed a free entrainment-type VST, built in SynthEdit, called Ultradia which is on her site.... slightly cheaper than the $50 being asked on the site you listed, or the $800 being asked for another entrainment type plugin elsewhere...

Altough I do dig her Ultradia, her doctorate is rather interesting, to say the least - check out her bio...

I've always had some interest in this field but very often it's somewhat obscured by pseudoscientific babble and the oddest kind of authorities.

Thanks for the link chasing alice. I'll read the book she wrote - it seems to be a fascinating subject!

Something you can do for fun, send a sine wave to one ear, and then send another sine wave to another ear thats just a few hertz off. You'll need headphones. You'll observe the phenomena of binaural beats, where your brain combines the two signals and produces interference (sounds like a helicopter). It's interesting because it's your brain producing the effect.

I think that falls under the category of brain entrainment.

Oh and somebody once told me that putting that stuff into your music is illegal, but I can't confirm that.

Do you mean listening for beat frequencies?
The same way that musicians have used for millennia to tune instruments?
I think that falls under the category of basic musicianship.

I can confirm that it isn't.

no nuffink, it's different to that; 'brain entrainment' is a phenomenon that requires absolute separation of the two signals from the left and right ears; the beat frequencies don't actually occur, because the two signals don't interfere with each other, but the two signals going into the brain separately, with the brain's own internal stereo processing, has some strange effect.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

When you download or use any consciousness altering material from this site, we take that as your explicit agreement not to use it without first informing yourself of its proper use. Be advised that you use Ultradia at your own risk.
