Want to talk me into Reaktor 5 or Kontakt 2 upgrade?

I think today's the last day for Reaktor Sessions owners to upgrade to Reaktor 5, and for Kontakt Sessions owners to upgrade to Kontakt 2. I own both the 'sessions' programs, and I'm thinking of taking a pass on both upgrades.

I like Reaktor Sessions fine, but I only use presets and I can't see that changing. I work almost exclusively with audio, and look to Reaktor for a pad or an effect send once in a while.

I don't like or dislike Kontakt Sessions. It does what it does fine. I like some of the samples pretty well, and I like GPO, but don't use any of it all that much.

This is sort of a stupid thread -- how can you know what I might like? -- but still: want to talk me into either upgrade?

Thanks.

I wouldn't bother, if you are happy with what you have then it seems like a waste of money.

Will there be any possible upgrades for Reaktor Session in the future? It would be good if there is, then you wouldn't have to rush into it.

While I like some of their products, at time i feel like I'm a cash cow hooked to a milking machine.

Reaktor 5 is probably a worthwhile upgrade if only because of the enevitable growth of reaktor5 specific ensembles in the user download area.

While NI may continue releasing packs like the Reaktor Instruments XT packages that don't need reaktor to run, you may at some point want something in the user library that can't run on reaktor 4.

Sounds like you wouldn't really get much use out of either, so why bother? Save your money for something you really want/need. As long as you're ok with Session being a dead-end product, no problem.

Btw, I picked up both before the deadline as I thought they were great deals, but to each their own.

It's hard to resist a deal . . .

The Reaktor thing is probably the one to do I guess. For one thing, Sessions is, as you say, a dead-end, and there's the user ensembles and such that will require Reaktor 5. (I've actually found it hard to get some of the existing user ensembles to work in Sessions. Maybe just me.)

It's also a huge discount. The same discount Reaktor 4 users get on the upgrade.

Hmm. Seems I'm talking myself into Reaktor 5 . . .
