We are pleased to announce the release of CurveEQ version 2.3--a professional WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") linear-phase spline equalizer PC VST plug-in.

This version features a visually redesigned user interface. Previously, CurveEQ's visual appearance was considerably different to other recently released Voxengo plug-ins. So, we have decided to fill this gap by updating CurveEQ's interface to the current design outlines.

Beside this 'visual' redesign, this version feature several minor 'invisible' issue fixes along with CPU usage optimization related to the graphics display - now CurveEQ's UI should use a lot less amount of CPU resources.

For your information, Voxengo CurveEQ implements spectrum matching technology that allows you to perfectly transfer a spectrum's slope from one recording to another. This allows you to `copy' a frequency balance of existing mixes so that other mixes that are still in the works will sound better.

Voxengo CurveEQ features:

* Actual filter's frequency response plot
* Ease of tuning
* Free-hand EQ curve drawing mode
* Input and output spectrum plots
* GearMatch technology
* SpectruMatch spectrum matching technology
* Vintage processor and saturator
* Linear-phase and minimum-phase filtering
* Multilevel undo
* Skin support
* "A-to-B" comparisons
* Factory presets
* Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing
* Support of sample rates up to 96 kHz
* 64-bit internal precision
* Native assembler DSP code

I really wish I could get to grips with the differences between all these eq's - Voxengo alone make 3 or 4 - why does one need so many different types and what are they best used for and when? Anyone got a simple idiots guide?

Well, if talking about Aleksey's EQs, then ( of the two I own):
Curve EQ - my surgical knife ( but can be used as a gentle tone shaping tool as well)

HarmoniEQ - my 'beautifier' :D

I've noticed that I tend to use HarmoniEQ more than anything.

You don't need an 'idiots guide' to EQ, you just need HarmoniEQ in its place. :D

So why not just make one eq that does cosmetic and radical surgery?

True. Maybe that's what will eventually happen.

But there's more to it, of course. You might want a 'surgical' EQ from manufacturer A and 'cosmetic' EQ from manufacturer B ?

An EQ that implements a spline based model can be expected to achieve complex filter reponse curves not ordinarily possible with conventional parametric designs...a radically asymetrical curve being the most obvious.

This can be a very powerful carving/shaping tool for some tasks, so long as the user is aware that such spline based designs make it possible to create curves that have greater potential for pass band/side band rippling, especially at more extreme slopes/gains.

bloat?

Maybe Aleksey will combine different products at some stage. He's always investigating, experimenting and inventing new ways of doing things, and these are the results of that development so far.

CurveEQ has spectral matching and is a linear and minimum phase EQ. Which puts it in a particular category alongside Elemental Audio's firium.

Mind if I ask a question?
I'm trying to decide between CurveEQ and HarmoniEQ to put on the master bus of FLS, probably in combination with Elephant and Polysquasher. I'm just trying them both out now. In the CurveEQ description it says ....

'Since equalizer uses digital filtering, it issues a sample delay (latency). If you are working in multitrack environment then possibly this will not bother you since multitrackers usually buffer this latency so it is consumed, but if you are using live audio processing, plug-in will issue a 3072 samples latency. Additional 512 samples of latency will be added if saturator latency buffering is enabled.'

What's the difference between multitracking and live audio processing? And will I experience any latency with CurveEQ in FLS?

thanks

The latency won't matter if you use CurveEQ on the FLS master bus only.

theres also a latency remover plugin on the voxengo website if your host doesnt support PDC...

that said its a pain to have to setup all the busses and stuff with those latency 'remover' plugins.

now that my host supports PDC using CurveEQ and other latency-inducing plugins has become a lot easier and workflow is a lot easier now. :love:
