I'm looking for a free plug-in that will bring my audio signal up an octave without adding any other fx. Is there such a thing. I'm in dire need but extreme poverty

Not free, but pretty cheap is Audiodamage's Discord, which sees constant use here.

cheapshift is a good one for free.
madshifta is also free but sound really terrible imo.
these are real time effects....but if u want best quality u're better off pitchshifting in a audio editing package using pitchshifting rendering.

You probably know about this already, but just in case you don't, cubase has quite a few options (including the well regarded MPEX algorithm) for off-line pitch shifting. If you just want to shift something with as few artifacts as possible, it will probably give a better result than any of the plug-ins mentioned here...

For a really good offline DOS utility, check out Jens Johanssen's pvoc.
I use lots of different pitchshifters for different tasks. For realtime that sounds good, Jackle&Hyde's work is excellent. I also use Discord and Spectral Monkeyage for musical/instrument applications, though I wouldn't use them for anything that needed to be pristine. Cheapshift is a great little noisemaker. And I use both Madshifta and Shivashifta in much the same way I would use a ring modulator.

p.s. don't always use MPEX - the other algos sometimes produce better results...greegatron_40k wrote:I can't believe I forgot about this. It's by gar the most convenient and reliable way of doing it. Thanks a million
