Weed? Oh sorry I was just catching up on the brewhaha in last months RESULTS thread. Somehow I missed all that. Then I unfortunately got caught up in it. It's like taking a time machine backwards a few hours to read SMS dispatches from a train wreck. Fascinating and yet somehow unsatisfactory. It did bring to mind weeding. Gardening. You know, tending the shrubbery. I don't have much of a green thumb.

4 minutes? Yikes.
Already difficult finding the time to give all the 2 min entries the attention they deserve. Might have to sit this one out.
Happy mooging, folks.

I like it!
4 minutes to build a nice Moog-influenced track and no prizes to get in the way of artistic creativity!
Nice move Rob, but shame it had to come to it.
I think Yuskevich should be given special dispensation to withdraw his track and extend it if he wants to though - in the interest of fairness, you know?

The prizes have stood in the way of your creativity? Wow. Can't wait to see what you come up with now, then...Glassback wrote:I like it!

Really. Have the prizes ever made a difference to anyone but the winners? Is there jealousy? Wide spread cutting of artistic corners? Commercial prostitution? I think not. I liked the prizes. I hope they come back. It's fun to make songs, and it's fun to compete. I've made it to top ten twice, and the thought of one day maybe receiving some software in the mail is an extra kick in the butt to do a good job. For me, anyway.
4 minutes is appropriate with this theme, but I sure hope there will be fewer entries then. Because for one, it'll take twice the time to simply listen, but it will take more than that to listen properly to each song. A two minute song is a poem or short story. Your build-up, main idea, climax and ending all have to be consise and to the point, and you shouldn't add anything that doesn't need to be there. A 4 minute song can be a symphony, or, to stay with my metaphor, a novel. And deserves to be listened to as such. So it'll take more time to listen to everything this month.
No voting? Hardly a contest, then...

ho hum...
Even tho it says 4 min, it does qualify it with 'no longer than 4 minutes running time', so I might not stray toooo far from the 2min mark anyway - we'll see. Donks can fit a whole song in 2 minutes, indeed I managed intro,3 verses, middle 8, solos and playout in 1:48 last march, so 4 minutes will be an absolute epic
. It is nice to have a little more breathing space, I'll see how I go for whether I fully use it.. I see no point in padding for the sake of it.
wrt to voting: well it means that there won't be DQ's for no votes, and we get another week to do the track. However, it's more of a community workshop than a contest [not necessarily a bad thing]

[EDIT: tsk! took so long writing my post that my points are now almost redundant. never mind!]
